So you have left a comment on a long talk page discussion complaining that no one is willing to insert citations in the article without inserting any yourself. I trust you see the irony of that. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I am moving your post which I think you intended for the RFC but placed in the following section due to a heading being temporarily removed. SpinningSpark 21:42, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I did mean it where I put it, although admittedly it applies as a general comment as well. I'm leaving it be for the sake of not needlessly messing with the discussion — daranzt ] 22:49, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
I will happily undo that action if you want. SpinningSpark 01:25, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Like I said, I'm OK with leaving it. — daranzt ] 01:52, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

RUPTZ

I Daranz, I add some references... and links. Is it enough ? Best regards,Logrual (talk) 16:53, 25 December 2012 (UTC) logrual

Please note that the notability guidelines on Wikipedia state that a topic is notable if it has significant coverage in independent reliable sources. This means that reliable, third-party sources have to give the topic significant coverage, beyond a mere mention. You have added a number of sources to the RUPTZ article, but I cannot check them, since they are not online, and I don't really speak the language at any rate. Please exercise your best judgment in adding sources and establishing notability, keeping in mind these policies.
At any rate, the article certainly still requires cleanup, as it is what seems like a rough translation. Please also note that if you have translated the article from another language, you should include the {{Translated page}} template on the talk page of the article in order to satisfy licensing requirements. — daranzt ] 21:34, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

hello, here is the source page in french: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruptz Logrual (talk) 23:19, 25 December 2012 (UTC)logrual

Ok. Do you know the specific revision from which you translated? It's the number that follows oldid= in the URL, if you're viewing an old version of the page. — daranzt ] 00:24, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Group=web

Hi Daranz. I'm the one who uses the group=web tag. I started doing this at the Zen page, to be able to have a compact list of references, using {{sfn}}, separated from long web-adresses. It also makes clear at one look which are the published sources, and therefor probably more reliable, and which are the web-sources, which may be less reliable. And it also gives a quick list of sources which can be approached by anyone, in contrast to books and (especially) articles in scientific magazines. I guess that this is not exactly according to Wiki-policies (though maybe also not exactly in opposition to it), and I figured it might be wise to contact you about this before it leads to irrittations on either side, because I'd prefer to keep this group at longer articles with many web-references. What's your opinion? Greetings, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 06:26, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

I've been removing them (from multiple articles, if I recall), since they didn't have a corresponding {{reflist|group=web}}, and so they weren't showing up. These articles also already had web links in the general references, so I figured I might as well toss the group=web in with the other references. Honestly, I thought it was a mistake (as people do make those with groups), and I wasn't really paying attention to see if I was doing this multiple times, so sorry if I caused you extra work.
The scheme you're using has its advantages, even if it is a bit odd (ie, not inline established styles). On pages with {{sfn}}, you also end up mixing shortened footnotes and full footnote citations. Have you considered instead dividing the "Sources" section into subsections for web and print sources? Granted, that would not make web citations immediately obvious inline, but it would make the sources list easier to navigate.
Anyway, that's just a thought. Sorry again, and I'll try not to mess with your work needlessly.  — daranzt ] 07:03, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
Sorry from my side; you were not messing up. I appreciate the corrections; my edits are mainly concerned with content and sources, and not with the details of correct lay-out etc. So I really appreciate you efforts.
There are indeed pages with both styles; I've copied sources from one page to another quite often (see also [1]); at some pages I've also converted citations to {{sfn}, and at a few pages I've done this consequently.
I'll think about dividing the source-section, and try it out. Thanks!
Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 08:49, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
Have a look! diff Greetings, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 21:49, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
Works well, although the idea I had was using shortened footnotes that then point to web references. Of course, that gets rid of inline [web #]...  — daranzt ] 22:00, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
I see your point, but sfn works with author-names and publication-dates, so that's kind of messy too. But I should read the guidelines for sfn again, to see what's possible. Greetings, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 22:16, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Selected Published Articles that were removed from my biography yesterday.

I have resuscitated the Selected Published articles that were deleted from my biography yesterday. They are important for photography students and other scholars to refer to within the field of photography. I have set them up to click directly on to the published article. Is it required that they adhere to strict bibliographic form? Philip 20:04, 22 March 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gefter (talkcontribs)

I removed the content because I felt it was unencyclopedic. It was a rather disproportionally long list of seemingly arbitrarily selected published articles that makes the article look more like a portfolio or a resume, rather than an encyclopedic article. If some of those articles are notable enough (ie, had an impact, were discussed more widely, generated discourse), then I recommend describing that in prose rather than providing a list with no assertion of why these particular articles are relevant or important.  — daranzt ] 21:57, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
