Unspecified source for Image:Elephant Armor.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Elephant Armor.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 05:48, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good job!

edit

Looking at the other subjects on your talk list, let me give you a postitive comment about your edits instead. Thank you so much for fixing up various problems with the Origins of Chess article:

  • Good job on fixing up the dispute about the assumption that chess came from China and removing that annoying "the accuracy of this article is disputed" tag.
  • Also, thank you for fixing up the image thing. I never even saw that contradiction! Although I have to say, seeing the new picture makes the article look quite different now after I've seen the "persian youths" picture for so long...

Although future readers might not find out what this article would be without you, rest at the thought they won't be misinformed. Great job and God bless. --JDitto 02:41, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merry Christmas!
Yeah, I know what you mean about uploading pictures. It can be kinda stressful at times. Providing the source of the image and the finding the right image tags in the list, takes a bit of time, but then people won't bug you about it. For example, you can't just tag the recent picture you just uploaded with {{pd-self}} unless you really did draw that picture yourself.
If you're still having trouble with the pictures, maybe check out the image tutorial. --JDitto 03:15, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:MahadevShiva.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:MahadevShiva.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi Darkness, I just noticed ur qn on WAFF (where I used to regularly post till about a year ago) about Vidhwansak..... do let me know if you need any help regarding image edits or pretty much anything else.... I've been editing for about 2 yrs now, and have around 4000 edits. You'll find a nice little community of us here, especially if you're military related interested.
About image edits, don't worry much... its the toughest part of editing wikipedia. The most impt thing is to make sure that the image source and copyright is ironclad, and doesn't have any scope for dispute. The rest is ok.... make sure that you add the images (or links) that you upload to ur user page, so that they can be used and found easily. Otherwise, even you will forget that you added these images. Also add them to categories, and also to one or two pages, so that they get found..... Any help, feel free to contact me. Cheers. Sniperz11@CS 06:31, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
P.S. I have expanded the Vidhwansak page with references and organization - take a looksie.... Cheers. Sniperz11@CS 10:54, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Vidhwansak1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. PhilKnight (talk) 10:09, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:Triseal.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4.
