WikiProject Dartmouth College
editHi, Dartmothian --
I saw your edits to Dartmouth College today. I've tweaked and in one case undone one of them, and wanted to explain why here:
- This edit of yours is completely unsupported by the citation. I don't dispute the factual accuracy of what you're saying -- that Dartmouth's curriculum was thusly perceived -- but if you want to add new or different information, you need to supply a reliable source that states as much (read Wikipedia:Verifiability). You replaced the content but not the citation, which gives the false impression that that same source said that, whereas in fact it did not. If you can find a reliable source that gives that information, by all means add it back it.
- Hovey didn't write a song called "Alma Mater", he wrote a song called "Men of Dartmouth". This edit seems to suggest that he titled the song "Alma Mater" in 1893. I clarified it to say explicitly the original title and the title change in the 1980s.
Just wanted to drop you a line and explain my edits so that you don't feel slighted at my having changed your additions. Feel free to drop me a line on my talk page if you want to discuss this further. Dylan (talk) 08:47, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Please add citations to your edits when you add new information, like here. Everything on Wikipedia has to be verifiable to a reliable source. 22:06, 20 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kane5187 (talk • contribs)
