For your work on DatBot. Its AIV reports are highly useful for catching vandals that slip through the cracks because the edit filter stops most of their vandalism. Ks0stm (T•C•G•E) 19:57, 29 November 2016 (UTC) |

Underlinked?
So which terms in the short stub Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women do you think need to be linked? I'm genuinely curious. There's no point in linking common terms like country names just so that the article looks as if it has plenty of links. I suggest that sometimes the right number of outgoing links from a well-sourced stub can be one (as here), or even zero. PamD 16:22, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Bot stopped!
I've stopped DatBot as due to the replag it is reporting stale IPs/users. I'll keep an eye on the replag level and try re-enabling it once it drops -- samtar talk or stalk 21:45, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
Hi DatGuy. The timing of this and this (over a day late) caught my eye. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:09, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
- I see there's a few. Some kind of catchup, right? I wonder if that could be avoided after some limited time, as it might get problematic. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:15, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Zzuuuzz: Yeah. Labs replag was super high yesterday (800 minutes?). Its either trying to catch up off that or the replag today is still quite high, but not high enough to not report. Dat GuyTalkContribs 06:49, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- I think the bot's block log puts my concern best. However, I have another concern after noticing that this thread was merged with the one before it: if the bot was stopped at 21:44, it should not have been editing at 21:48 or when it was blocked. -- zzuuzz (talk) 11:55, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- Looks like the bot isn't checking /Run before making an edit? Simple if there DatGuy:
if [/Run content] = "Run" then {make edit} else {don't make edit}
-- samtar talk or stalk 12:00, 12 December 2016 (UTC) - @Zzuuzz and Samtar: God, I'm super sorry for it not stopping. I'll review the code again. Dat GuyTalkContribs 15:08, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Zzuuzz and Materialscientist: God I'm dumb. It looked for the page title instead of the wikitext. At least it just reported an annoying sock to UAA. Dat GuyTalkContribs 15:48, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello, I just started here at Wikipedia a couple days ago and have found pretty quickly that my favorite thing to do is revert vandalism. While i've been alright so far (meaning no one has yelled at me for bad reverts) I still have a ton of questions and was wondering if you could help me - I noticed you're available on the trainers page :) Tesla (talk) 18:12, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
Hey DatGuy, when will we start my CVU training? JustAGuyOnWikipedia ( To see my User page, click here) | (talk) 22:05, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
- @JustAGuyOnWikipedia and Tesla400: Sorry for the late reply. Anyways, would both of you like to be trained together? You two can either choose a super simple, not pressured course or a more "strict" one. In the former, my student was actually blocked as a sockpuppet but in the latter they've all progressed well and had rollback. Thoughts? Dat GuyTalkContribs 18:19, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
- I would personally prefer the more strict one. Definitely wouldn't like to take the same course as a sockpuppet (blech!). Tesla (talk) 19:55, 13 December 2016 (UTC)
- @DatGuy and Tesla400: I'm fine if were trained together. (I'll also be fine if we took the more strict one.) JustAGuyOnWikipedia (talk) 20:28, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

ACC tool access request approved
DatGuy, thank you for your interest in the account creation process. I have verified that you are identified to the Wikimedia Foundation and approved your request.
You may now access the interface here pending a tool root marking your account as identified in the tool database. Before you begin handling requests, please ensure you have read and understood the account creation guide and username policy to familiarise yourself with the process.
Please subscribe yourself to the private ACC mailing list following the instructions on that page. I also advise that you also join us on IRC #wikipedia-en-accounts connect where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and you can get real time advice on how to handle requests.
Please note failure to correctly assess requests will result in suspension of tool access. Account creation is not a race, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly. Releasing personally identifying information (such as IP and email addresses), whether intentionally or unintentionally, is treated very seriously and will generally result in immediate suspension.
Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, and you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked as "Flagged user needed" on the interface. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM/ACC.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome! FastLizard4 (talk•contribs) 07:23, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for offering to be a trainer. Please remember that we expect users to have at least 200 mainspace edits before they can enroll at the WP:CVU/A. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:28, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Kudpung: Why do you have to have at least 200 mainspace edits? JustAGuyOnWikipedia: Is ONLINE. (Merry Christmas!!!) (talk) 18:28, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
- Several reasons, JustAGuyOnWikipedia, among which are those which help to ensure that:
- The user is not using the encyclopedia as a MMORPG
- The user is not simply a hat collector
- The user knows how to respond to messages and communicate properly
- The user at least has been around long enough to understand what Wikipedia actually is
- - and it's still not enough aand still gives us problems, so it's one rule for all, and admins make no exceptions when it comes to according additional user rights. It also provides users with an opportunity to be trainers which further helps to develop their skills and to have the satisfaction that they have helped others. Account creator granted
After reviewing your request for the "accountcreator" permission, I have enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:
- The account creator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
- The account creator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the account creator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the account creator right. Happy editing! — xaosflux Talk 17:30, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

uploading fair use images for current events articles
Hi DatGuy, I recently followed your example of uploading an image from a news agency to Wikipedia under a fair use justification. The image was placed on the article December 2016 Congolese protests which is now featured in the "In the News" section of Wikipedia's home page. I was following your example of using an image on the 2016 Eséka train derailment page but instead of the image coming from Reuters mine was a low resolution screen grab from AFP. Have I done something wrong? I don't understand how your image is ok but mine is copyright violation. Please join the discussion on the image's talk page where Ramaksoud2000 has tagged my upload for speedy deletion. Thank you.Monopoly31121993 (talk) 12:56, 24 December 2016 (UTC)
- In the interest of keeping this discussion in one stable place, I have replied at Wikipedia_talk:Non-free_content#Are_all_journalistic_photos_banned_from_Wikipedia.3F. Ramaksoud2000 (Talk to me) 13:09, 24 December 2016 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Eséka train.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Eséka train.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
