editWelcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "TridentTechMarketing", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username, by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. ElKevbo (talk) 18:09, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.
If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.
Thank you. GirthSummit (blether) 18:28, 2 January 2020 (UTC)COI and PAID editing guidance
editHi David, I see that you requested a change in username - I have therefore lifted the block on your account. Please understand however that you need to abide by the guidance set out at COI and PAID - please read these carefully before making any further edits. Note that you should avoid editing the page directly - rather, you should restrict yourself to making edit requests on the relevant talk page, supported by reliable sources, which unconflicted editors can then consider. Failure to abide by these requirements will result in your account being blocked again. Thanks GirthSummit (blether) 19:13, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the information. I didn't know anything about the correct way to submit edits or COI/PAID. I work for Trident Technical College, so I just wanted to make sure accurate information was being shared with the public. Thanks for accepting some of my updates. I'll mention just one more thing ... the current description about the college says that we have "other campuses throughout the state." This is misleading. We are one of 16 technical colleges in the state. Each college has a defined service area. We serve these three counties: Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. We have locations only in these three counties, not throughout the state. Information about our service area can be found under Role and Scope in our mission statement here: [1]. - Hi again - you can make an edit request at the article talk page, asking that this be changed. It's best if you provide a reliable source - for details of this nature, the college's website should be OK. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 01:25, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
- It's an easy request so I've handled it. But Girth Summit is correct than an "edit request" on the article's Talk page is the recommended way of requesting edits for articles where you might have a conflict of interest. (And if you make a request that doesn't get answered, feel free to drop me a line on my Talk page or request assistance here.) ElKevbo (talk) 02:16, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
