Non-free image use

since the prime minister died in 1945, I don't see much risk of confusion. The actual policy statement at WP:REALNAME is "Do not edit under a name that is likely to imply that you are (or are related to) a specific, identifiable person, " I don't think it is in the least likely to imply anything of the sort. Anyone who's heard of him, even though may not be sure of the exact year, will know he long preceded WP. Furthermore the guides at Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention says "Real names are permitted except when they imply that the editor is a specific living person they are not." That's my opinion, but anyone who disagrees can bring the question to Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User names. If anyone does that, please notify me. DGG ( talk ) 03:52, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the comment DGG. I was aware that David Lloyd George the politician is no longer living, so it's obvious this editor is not the same person. However, it's not clear whether this editor is perhaps a representative of the estate or somehow otherwise connected to him (perhaps a relative?). Anyway, the template I added what meant more for informational purposes than to try and get someone soft blocked. Template wording can be a little harsh sometimes, so perhaps a personal message would've been best in this case. I think that a little far-fetched; it would be relevant if there were any editing on his bio, or the like, and I checked that before I responded. Marchjuly, you've correctly realized the problem with templates: they are not well suited for many specific situations, but we need to use them because there's no other way of getting the work done efficiently. What I often do is check them after they'v e been placed and modify them as needed. DGG ( talk ) 05:40, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

@DGG: I've stricken the template per this discussion. I'm not sure if that takes the userpage out of Category:Wikipedia usernames with possible policy issues, so if necessary you can remove the template all together.

Also, I think there was an error in your last post since the syntax {{User:Marchjuly}} will not work the same way as {{u}} or [[user:Marchjuly]]. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:49, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
