USS prefix for ships

You have changed proper usage of ship prefixes in SS Mariposa several times into form that violates both the ship "owner" (U.S. Navy) and Wikipedia policy and usage. Please do not continue changing proper usage into usage counter to USN and Wikipedia (this was settled some years ago in an RFC). U.S. Navy policy and custom is that no ship not in commission uses the United States Ship (USS) prefix. Ships formerly in commission customarily bear the "honorific" USS, though in official usage they will be "former USS" (name). They are never termed USS (NAME) for service before commissioning as in the case of Monroe before commissioning in 1943. Even ships under construction are only "prospective USS" until commissioned. The S.S. Mariposa was never a United States Naval ship, the Mariposa was owned and operated by The Matson Navigation Company, during World War Two this ship (and most other merchant ships) was charted by the U.S. government to transport troops, but Matson Navigation retained ownership and the ship was operated by a civilian crew. USS as a ship prefix is only used for commissioned U.S. Naval ships.
