- Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or sock puppetry.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Adding references can be easy
edit Hello! Here's how to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain the Wikipedia policy of verifiability.
Adding well formatted references is actually quite easy:
- While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "Cite". Click on it.
- Then click on "Templates".
- Choose the most appropriate template and fill in as many details as you can. This will add a well formatted reference that is helpful in case the web URL (or "website link") becomes inactive in the future.
- Click on Preview when you're done filling out the 'Cite (web/news/book/journal)' to make sure that the reference is correct.
- Click on Insert to insert the reference into your editing window content.
- Click on Show preview to Preview all your editing changes.
- Before clicking on Save page, check that a References header ==References== is near the end of the article.
- And check that {{Reflist}} is directly underneath that header.
- 7. Click on Save page. ...and you've just added a complete reference to a Wikipedia article.
You can read more about this on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv.
Hope this helps, --Shearonink (talk) 01:00, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

Talkback
editMessage added 03:15, 16 May 2016 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
I was able to source the "live in Ohio" but was unable to use the "Album" book as I don't have a copy & couldn't find any content online. Take a look and see what you think. If you could post the page number here I could then use the Album-book for the cite instead. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 02:06, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

editHello, I'm I dream of horses. I noticed that in this edit to Garrison's Gorillas, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. I dream of horses If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message (talk to me) (My edits) @ 23:23, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
Hey, Hey, It's the Monkess
editRe: Your recent changes to Hey, Hey, It's the Monkees. The state of the article as it was before your changes was discussed thoroughly between members and a Wikipedia admin. Therefore, I respectfully request that you undo all your recent changes and bring them up for discussion in that article's Talk page instead. There we can come up with a direction to proceed. Thank you. --Sm5574 (talk) 19:03, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
Davymickymikepeter (talk) 01:27, 20 February 2019 (UTC)Hi. I don't know what you mean, sorry. I was trying to edit the page because it was way too long for something so minor. It read like a fan drooling. I don't know how to undo a page. But feel free to undo it. I thought we were allowed to make edits. Sorry. Davymickymikepeter~~ BTW, when I try to undo the edits, it says edits can't be undone. So at least I tried. Davymickymikepeter (talk) 01:27, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for responding. We are certainly allowed to make edits. But when making such drastic changes to a page, it is advisable to bring it up for discussion first. Read through the talk page to see if there's a reason for the way it is. Then state your concerns and what changes you propose, and give a few days for people to respond. If no one says anything, then you should assume that no one is closely watching the page, and go ahead and make your edits. I have tried my best to restore the spirit of the original while honoring your concern that it was far too long. Please review my changes and let me know in that Talk page if you feel further changes are necessary, and hopefully we can reach an agreement. --Sm5574 (talk) 15:41, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
