Your idea for an article
editSome more advice to add to what was said on the Help desk: your question sounds as though what you want to do is to make an article about a friend. You should understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social-networking site; if someone is to have an article they must be of enough general interest and importance to have an encyclopedia article: the Wikipedia term for that is notability, and it is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." More detail in Wikipedia:Notability (people).
Articles that don't give a clear indication of the subject's importance are likely to be speedily deleted; that might be embarrassing for you or your friend, so think carefully before you go ahead. You may find that a site like Myspace or Facebook is more suitable for what you want. There is good advice about writing articles in Wikipedia:Your first article, which is worth reading carefully. Wikipedia:Autobiography gives reasons for not writing about yourself, and many of them apply to writing about a close friend or relative. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 08:35, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
