What article would you like to edit?

edit

Hi - I saw your comment - what article would you like to edit?  7  13:38, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Boeing article. I suppose I can make minor changes to articles that are not padlocked. That's what the rules say. Dellcomputermouse (talk) 13:39, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes - Boeing is semi-protected, meaning that you must have a four (or more) day old account and ten or more edits to Wikipedia. As you mentioned you can get some practice on articles that are not projected and wait a few days. Also, in the future please post a request for help at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page or you cal also type {{helpme}} (including the brackets) followed by a description of your problem here on your talk page. Thanks.  7  13:43, 27 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Provocative edits

edit

You are editing two very visible, highly trafficked pages with items which are not clearly written and are not fully supported by the references you are providing. Many editors would be glad to help, and I see you posted on Talk:Ted Kennedy, but it's best to wait for consensus before making changes to articles, especially large, highly-visited ones. Also, it looks like you're a new editor; perhaps you could poke around a bit and ask questions if you're unsure of policy and procedure before making these types of edits. I'd be glad to answer any questions. Thanks!  Frank  |  talk  15:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Running to One's Parents

edit

Edits like this[1] are frowned upon. They're considered "forum shopping". Nobody is challenging the NYT article. If you can't work the matter out on the Kennedy talk page, there are ways to work the matter out that are more effective than writing Jimbo. PhGustaf (talk) 19:28, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Read it more carefully. I am merely asking if the New York Times and the BBC are lying about Mr. Wales. It has nothing to do with Kennedy. If asked at the Kennedy page, Mr. Wales wouldn't see it. It would be a big blow to the BBC and the New York Times if they were found to be lying. Dellcomputermouse (talk) 19:37, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Nobody is suggesting that anybody is lying. (In fact, I read the NYT article myself when it appeared; it seemed citable to me.) PhGustaf (talk) 19:40, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Nobody is accusing anyone of lying. If you believe such an accusation has been made, please provide the diff. In the meantime, please stick to the matters at hand. You have chosen to edit two very high-profile articles in ways which are not consistent with established Wikipedia policies, and you have attracted the attention of several editors in the course of doing so. Plainly put, there is going to be discussion when you do that; there's no way around it.  Frank  |  talk  19:42, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I don't get what Jimbo is supposed to have been lying about. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 19:55, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
No! I'm asking Jimbo if the BBC and New York Times lied about him (Jimbo)! Dellcomputermouse (talk) 20:02, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I still don't get it. What exactly are BBC and NYT supposed to have lied about? A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 21:34, 28 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
