Obscure quotation marks

edit

Hey, thanks for this! One suggestion: could you also add detection for the other incorrect quotation mark styles that are mentioned in the MOS? (i.e. `backticks´, „low-high“, and «guillemet») They're somewhat uncommon, but I have seen them occasionally: [1] Ionmars10 (talk) 17:19, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Oh also, I'd suggest that the edit summary should link to MOS:CQ so people don't get confused. Ionmars10 (talk) 17:27, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ionmars10: Second request is done! I will figure out the first one sometime soon. Thanks for these great suggestions! DemonDays64 (talk) 23:05, 15 May 2020 (UTC) (please ping on reply)Reply
@Ionmars10: now all three are implemented, including single versions of low-high and guillemet. If there are any problems, please let me know! Thanks, DemonDays64 (talk) 15:39, 16 May 2020 (UTC) (please ping on reply)Reply
@DemonDays64: I've just discovered yet another type of quotation mark: ¨this one¨ in this diff. Ionmars10 (talk) 18:41, 2 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Does not work

Hello, clicking the link for the tool on Real line does nothing for me. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 11:27, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

@DemonDays64: ping. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 11:27, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@1234qwer1234qwer4: it works fine for me (tested in the current version of Firefox on Windows 10). What kind of device are you on? What browser? DemonDays64 (talk) 17:26, 14 August 2020 (UTC) (please ping on reply)Reply
I tested it in Firefox and the latest Edge. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 20:29, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
Okay, first off, I thought this worked like the dash-fixing script and started it from the article rather than from the editing window. However, while clicking on it there does start the script (adding the edit summary and loading the diff), it does not fix that specific use of smart quotes. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 23:12, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
@DemonDays64: Tested with safemode=true (and script import through address bar) as well, so shouldn't be due to any interference with other scripts. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 13:54, 6 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

@DemonDays64: UPD: This works for me if I load the diff view of the edit and then click on the link for the script. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 21:38, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

UPD2: This is also sporadic. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 17:40, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you!

Wow this is amazing. Once I read the talk page discussion about running it with the edit window open, it worked perfectly and so easily! Would only suggest maybe adding that bit of instruction to the description of the script. Thank you again—this is a huge time-saver! Innisfree987 (talk) 17:42, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Innisfree987: thanks for the suggestion! I have added a bit of explanation. DemonDays64 (talk) 00:31, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
DemonDays64, super—thank you again, I use this literally every day! Major time and hassle saver! Innisfree987 (talk) 00:49, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@DemonDays64: Can you add an example page to test this? ― Qwerfjkl|   22:02, 2 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

German „

edit

@DemonDays64: Quotes in German: „test“. The leading „ is not converted to straight quote "test". Could this be fixed? Grimes2 (talk) 15:39, 19 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
