1895ish picture of Harvard Bridge

If this is really from around 1895, it's in the public domain. Is there anything keeping us from putting it in Commons? I've already downloaded the full size copy. - Denimadept (talk) 18:42, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

It's unclear to me whether the BPL has any copyright over the image because they digitized it; it's not like we're scanning the original ourselves. Perhaps someone at the Wikimedia Foundation can give an official legal opinion? -- Beland (talk) 19:44, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Beginning of the Hudson for List of fixed crossings of the Hudson River

From Hudson River,

The river itself officially begins in Henderson Lake in Newcomb, New York.

In order to list the crossings of the Hudson, one has to follow the watercourse designated the Hudson. Going upstream, this leads to and ends at Henderson Lake. The highest source, Lake Tear of the Clouds, feeds into the Hudson via a tributary, the Opalescent River, which connects to the Hudson some miles below its beginning. The highest source is not the beginning of the designated watercourse.

I am sorry for all the editing turmoil. The Hudson is just one of those bodies of Water with no clear cut source. I do believe it either begins directly at Henderson Lake or at the confluence just past it. I have been using Henderson Lake as the source because it seems like a more likely location (there is a dam on the outlet which normally indicates a river),and although Maps are not always authoritative sources and may produce different results, The ones I use show it and photos on Google Maps show it too. Authoritative sources such as the geo one are good, but they can also show different results to varying degrees. If I have caused you any trouble with editing, I am not vandalizing I mean well and I truly believe that the river begins at Henderson Lake This is not just Maps and Blogs.
