Self-published works

Looking back through some of the Mark Kirk history, I noticed some dispute about Kirk's websites being used as sources for the article. According to WP:BLP, a self-published item from the subject of the relevant claim is often just fine. From BLP:

Living persons may publish material about themselves, such as through press releases or personal websites. Such material may be used as a source only if:

1. it is not unduly self-serving;
2. it does not involve claims about third parties;
3. it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject;
4. there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity;
5. the article is not based primarily on such sources.

These provisions do not apply to autobiographies published by reliable third-party publishing houses, because they are not self-published.

I thought that WP:BLP only applies to self-published sources? The campaign website is published by Kirk's campaign people--not himself personally. If you read the last line of WP:BLP, it clarifies that even an autobiography wouldn't suffice when published by a third-party, because it is still not technically self-published. Do other politicians' Wiki pages use their campaign website as references? I can't find any. --Denovo1 (talk) 13:58, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
