Would you like to discuss this? I am interested in maintaining NPOV on that article, but I feel you've pushed too far in one direction. For example, you said that the existence of the war on Christmas is "allegedly disputed". It really is disputed, that's a fact. There are numerous citations in the article pointing to articles in which it's existence is disputed. Let's talk, rather than just change each other's edits, ok? Come on over to Talk:War on Christmas; I'll see you there. -GTBacchus(talk) 23:04, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Block
editDiatrobica;l (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log)
Because admins have the latitude to block people for disruption of Wikipedia, I am blocking you for thirty minutes for the way you're running around posting spammy links to people's talk pages. (See WP:SPAM#Internal spamming.) You may wait out the thirty minutes, or promise that you'll be a little slower on that trigger finger and I will unblock you. Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 23:21, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'll edit slower, now unblock me or I'll report you for abusing admin powers--Diatrobica;l 23:22, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- Why haven't I been unblocked yet?--Diatrobica;l 23:23, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
You haven't been unblocked yet because I am a user, not a bot. Did you expect me to get back to you in 90 seconds?
You also haven't been unblocked because you still have a hostile attitude, and because you still haven't assured me to be "slower on the trigger finger." I don't want you to promise to "edit slower." What I mean is, your going around to talk pages of unrelated users is inappropriate. You need to indicate that you'll stop doing this, and won't do so again in the future.
And feel free to report me. I just reported myself to check with other admins. That's another reason you haven't been unblocked, yet. I was busy checking with other people to make sure I was being fair to you. Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 23:26, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- I was going to warn you, but the block is in order too. Don't spam users. Don't use sockpuppets. It's easy, go and write some articles. dab (ᛏ) 23:28, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Also, you were not blocked for your political views. I haven't even read about your political views, yet, but from my first impression, I probably agree with you. I blocked you for disrupting Wikipedia by cross-posting a message to the talk pages of many users who are probably not interested. Since you made this post, I'm insisting that you state "I understand that I was blocked for my behavior and not for my political views" before I will unblock you. Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 23:30, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
I haven't broken any laws, or said anything wrong
editWhy was I blocked/? Is there any justifiation for this block??? AT ALL??? Just a rogue admin??????--Diatrobica;l 23:29, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Suggestion
editHey, Diatrobical - let me share something I've learned with you. Making a lot of noise, even if you're certain you're right, is a really bad way to make an impression here. People who get their way on Wikipedia do it by showing themselves to be champions of reasoned discussion, patience, and consensus building. Please, if you want to influence the content of Wikipedia, make an effort to speak the native language, or you'll just be run out on a rail. It happens all the time, but it's so easy to avoid just by treating everyone very respectfully. Civility and cooperation is so rewarding, I promise. -GTBacchus(talk) 23:30, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
Calm down
editWhy don't you just wait thirty minutes? And then behave yourself?
Or, why don't you just promise to not go posting your unwanted messages to user's talk pages? That's all you have to do for me to unblock you. Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 23:36, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
This is pointless
editAll right, you're completely out of line. I've told you exactly what you need to do if you want me to unblock me. Or you can wait 30 minutes. Or you can try to get another admin. Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 23:41, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- and if you continue your spamming after the 30 minutes are over, prepare for a longer block. dab (ᛏ) 23:48, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I promise I won't do anything you disgree with anymore, will you be kind enough to unblock me now that I'm showing remorse for my wiki 'crimes'?--Diatrobica;l 23:51, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
No, that doesn't work, because you're not acknowledging that the problem was that you did something disruptive rather than the idea that you were unjustly blocked for having the wrong opinion. Your opinion has nothing to do with it, nor does whether or not I agree. What you have to do is admit that you did something wrong and promise not to do it again. (And then not do it again.) What you did wrong was to go "internal spamming" requests to uninterested people's talk pages to try to campaign for your issue. The magic words are to admit that that was wrong and that you will not do it again. Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 23:54, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- Alright, fine, I acknowledge that I did something wrong, and will not do it again
--Diatrobica;l 23:56, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
- No. You have been re-blocked for 30 hours for extensive egrigious personal attacks. (I did this 5 minutes ago but I keep running into edit conflicts trying to tall him). --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 23:50, 15 December 2005 (UTC)
