Thanks 9cds, mostly I've done minor updates, but I have created one stub article - Big Fat Joe - I don't want to be accused of vandalism, so I'm playing it safe! Still this site is fantastic, I like the fact anyone can edit, that's why I joined. One thing though, your user page says its been vandalised three times - maybe they should ban editing on user pages unless you're logged in as that user. Digifiend 09:15, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your comments. Helpful Henry was certainly in the first issue of the Beano (July 30th, 1938) and also featured in the first Beano Book (1940).
To be honest, I don't know if his Dandy Monster Comic appearance was a one-off, or if he actually started out as a Dandy character but was transferred over to the Beano for the launch issue (by which time, the art for the 1939 Monster Comic would already have been prepared). Fred's Bed
editA "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Fred's Bed, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. greenrd 21:43, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Trevor Metcalfe
editHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Trevor Metcalfe, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Trevor Metcalfe seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Trevor Metcalfe, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. May 2008
editWelcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Midnight (Doctor Who), is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. —TreasuryTag—t—c 14:43, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
The date I used was exactly 7 days after the previous episode, there's no way that was wrong. If any more get postponed this year, they should've started the series a month earlier, and I'll be complaining to the BBC. And why is the title of this message "May 2008"? That's not what I added. Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as [[Talk:Last of the Time Lords]] are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. ╟─TreasuryTag (talk ╬ contribs)─╢ 09:40, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Laura Howell, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of Laura Howell and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jasynnash2 (talk) 12:41, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, can't see how it differs from a lot of other Beano/Dandy artist stubs, although I admit my info did come from her own website. I was just trying to eliminate a red link. And being the first and only female Beano artist makes her notable in my book. Digifiend (talk) 12:44, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Big Fat Joe
editAn editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Big Fat Joe. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Big Fat Joe. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Goukaiger
editThere is a very simple reason why the name "Goukaiger" was not listed on any item relating to Super Sentai when I first discovered it this morning. It is because it is not actually confirmed. This image that you posted? We have no idea where it actually comes from. It is not from any particular magazine like Terebikun or Terebi Magazine. It probably comes from some industry press release that the general public never gets access to. Because of this, this particular image is not a reliable source. As such, we cannot use that particular item to support the fact that the show 海賊戦隊ゴーカイジャー exists.
However, the Industrial Property Digital Library has had entries for 海賊戦隊ゴーカイジャー since August, and now references pointing to those items are on the article and that supports the fact that 海賊戦隊ゴーカイジャー exists.
Onto my next note: "Goukaiger" is most certainly not confirmed as the name of the series. At this stage, we have no way of knowing how TV Asahi, Toei, and Bandai will be Anglicizing "ゴーカイジャー". For one thing, it does not have a "U" sound in the name. It is just a lengthened O sound that does not result from an OU sound. The show could be "Go-kaiger" (like "Go-onger") or "Gokaiger" or anything else. For that reason, we at Wikipedia should not use the name that the fandom uses because they do not know how to properly read Japanese and simply turns any long O sound into an "OU".—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 18:59, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
The article British International Comics Show has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The article gives no indication of notability, and even notes that the event is no longer ongoing.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Inks.LWC (talk) 23:58, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
non-free media overuse
editYes, even leaving one image could be overuse. Please have a look at the WP:NFCC policy, WP:NFLISTS, and WP:OVERUSE for more information. --Dirk Beetstra T C 11:44, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
The current rationale is "The image is used to identify the organization Night_Network, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the organization, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about the organization, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey."
No, the image is not used to identify the organisation, it is purely to 'illustrate the organization's intended branding message' - so it does not serve an identification purpose, and it not an image which is critically described. Sorry, this one still fails WP:NFCC. --Dirk Beetstra T C 11:53, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Go-Busters
editThe scan that is going around the internet is not a reliable source. It is a photograph taken from the pages of a proprietary trade catalog and not a magazine that is available to the public. So we will not mention the title "Gobusters", "Go Busters", or "Go-Busters" until we have a freely available reliable source (one of the children's or hobby magazines) that features the title logo.
And either way, the one from the trade catalog is such a low resolution photo that we cannot feasibly tell what the hell the logo says anyway.—Ryulong (竜龙) 01:02, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- You can on this one. It's bigger, and you clearly see the word GO-BUSTERS in the logo. It's confirmed. [5] Digifiend (talk) 17:11, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
- I still don't see a dash between "Go" and "Busters". Again, this can wait till we get higher res things. But even then, it is not confirmed enough for Wikipedia standards.—Ryulong (竜龙) 18:30, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Will you stop complaining about this? I have told you that we cannot use the image that you have provided me because it does not pass WP:RS because it is not a publication that is available to the general public. It is from a trade catalog that only shows up at the Japan toy shows that are not open to the general public. And I am actually not even 100% clear as to whether or not that is an accurate description of the scans like that one or this one or this one. The fact that we cannot even begin to name the publication means it will never be a reliable source. It's a nice image for the fandom to figuratively masturbate over, but it does not qualify for useful content on the English Wikipedia.—Ryulong (竜龙) 10:58, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:KClogo2010.gif
editThanks for uploading File:KClogo2010.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Cloudbound (talk) 18:24, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Megaforce
editDon't make a Megaforce page unless you can find a reliable source (that is nothing that can be linked directly to the fandom, e.g. do not fucking use Samurai Cast) that states any of the information recently revealed at the panel at Power Morphicon 3. Remember that Wikipedia has stricter standards than the fandom, and we should not report on anything that does not have reliable sources because the page could very well be deleted and then we have to cut through a lot of red tape to get a proper page set up.—Ryulong (琉竜) 20:27, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
Fansites are not reliable sources, no matter if they reported on an actual event and may be 100% right. When a press release comes out with that same information, we can start building up a Megaforce page. Until then, and regardless as to how other articles may have started out on Wikipedia, there cannot be a standalone Power Rangers Megaforce article on Wikipedia. If you make one using the pisspoor sources that are out there as of the time that I am writing this, I will send it to WP:AFD and have it officially deleted.—Ryulong (琉竜) 02:53, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
- Instead of discussing this on 4 different talk pages, I think we should all discuss this in the discussion that was started at WP:Notability/Noticeboard#Power Rangers Megaforce back in June. Powergate92Talk 06:33, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
Samurai Cast is a fan blog and it is not a reliable source. There are zero reliable sources out there for any of the other 4 cast members. Do not put them on the article. And even if there are photos of four other people in costume, we do not have any reliable sources for their names. Either way, you completely botched up the source formatting. You cannot have four citations all to the same website. There is a way to make it so you don't have to link it 4 times in a row but why bother because we're not going to use Samurai Cast.
Long story short, no information from Samurai Cast or any other fandom website ever.—Ryulong (琉竜) 00:16, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

I had put together a section under the heading "controversy" which covered the background of the Savile and Newsnight crises this morning 12:18, 10 November 2012 . This was wrongly removed in its entirety by Widefox who substituted an inaccurate and libellous paragraph implicating Lord McAlpine and making partisan and incorrect references to "Tories" "Thatcher" etc - none of which are relevant or germane to the story. I'm just as frustrated with DharakJoo as you are, but I'm more pissed with the Wiki higher-ups for not blocking him and his sockpuppets. When I flagged him as a sockpuppet, the admins dismissed the case on the grounds that the second account was created because he probably forgot his password.

Dino Charge
editQuestion, what should be done with the announcement of Dino Charge for 2015. I added a placeholder spot in the PR menu box for it, but I'm guessing there won't be a article for it until later this year. So I was asking at what point do we create a article for Dino Charge?Gaeaman787 (talk) 05:22, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'll answer this. An article is created when there is enough information that can be verified such that it can pass Wikipedia's notability guidelines. And it does not need to be in the navbox because there's nothing to navigate to, and it's not like other areas on this site where things are normally put in navboxes despite there being no article for the topic yet.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 08:58, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- Since it was announced in a USA Today article and then confirmed by Saban themselves on the Power Rangers Facebook page, we do at least know the show exists, and I see USA Today has been cited on the main Power Rangers article. A separate article for the season would just be a stub though, there's nothing we can add that's not on the franchise page, except for the season logo. Can't even say it's based on Kyoryuger (even though that's blatantly obvious), as that would be original research. Digifiend (talk) 13:00, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, but mere existence does not denote notability. And for all we know they'll use the Go-Busters crap for season 1 and Kyoryuger for a "Super Dino Charge" season 2.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 13:54, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- Well, that's now confirmed to not be the case. This shows the Kyoryuger - though it's still WP:OR and therefore unciteable. Digifiend (talk) 17:05, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 14
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2009 in American television, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ABC Kids (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

- Given the article's past history I hope the article will stay and can be built without the controversy it caused over recent months. I tried to link this from a episode list but because I just started editing the attempt failed. Slimer5Buster (talk) 12:09, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
- Someone also has to un-blacklist the episode list. I created an alternate title (List of Power Rangers Dino Charge episodes), but it should be moved. Slimer5Buster (talk)

Question about "Y" (as consonant)
editHello Digifiend and sorry to disturb you here "at home". I just happened to notice you, at the talk-page Talk:Y of the Y -article. And as I see you are native in British English - and also since things appear to go extremely slow at that particular talk-page, do I wonder if you possibly could help me with a language question. - Is there (in your opinion) a notable difference in how a "J" and a "Y" actually are pronounced in the cases of "yet" and "jet". ("Haven't seen her here yet" / "A huge jet engine") I'm not after prooving any point - but am curious and would very much appreciate any answer. If this was dull, just ignore it. Cheers !
