Tide rolls?

Why do you say you are reverting edits by User:Tide rolls here]? Dougweller (talk) 04:53, 6 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hm yeah at first i was like, well because it was a test edit, but looking closer, it looks like it was a bug in Huggle. Im not sure why that edit summary was created. Im not sure how to reproduce it either, other than quick edits using the software. Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 14:47, 6 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Issue reported. Please see the following Huggle Problem Report on Google Code: Issue 208: English: Edit Summary: Huggle Users: Incorrect edit summary given with user who did not edit article Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 15:39, 6 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks, I couldn't believe you'd thought that! Dougweller (talk) 12:45, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

You started it

You started the "personal attacks" by calling me a vandal. I'm trying to clean up some of the garbage in wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.175.246.12 (talk) 03:00, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for welcoming User talk:69.86.129.52

Hi there, you posted a welcome message on User talk:69.86.129.52. Thanks for that. This contributor and me made a series of edits to Brian Camelio. If you have time to participate and review this, please do not hesitate. --Edcolins (talk) 20:09, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yeah No problem. Their edits were popping up on huggle in the recent change list the other night. Since they were constructive edits, I welcomed the user and encouraged them to create an account, then ignored them. :p Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 20:25, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
This IP address seems to have a conflict of interest... see for your information [1] and Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Brian_Camelio. Happy editing... --Edcolins (talk) 21:13, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Im sorry you were accused of harassment. I usually try to assume good faith and welcome users that i feel are making a contribution. I'm sorry if the user that i welcomed thought you were attacking them rather than collaborating with them. =/ Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 23:03, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I usually dont check users that are editing articles to see if they are registered. I often feel that if a user is logged out, they probably forgot to log in or something. I have seen it before. I really hate when people create articles about their self for promotion. Good catch. Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 23:07, 7 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
It's always good to welcome users so that they get links to useful policies. I didn't want to blame you at all for that. That's was just informative. And I am not attacking users, just defending Wikipedia policies :-) I also dislike self-promotion, as it almost always leads to biased articles (POV). --Edcolins (talk) 16:24, 8 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

New Page Patrol survey

New page patrol – Survey Invitation

Hello Dillard421/Archive 8! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.

  • If this invitation also appears on other accounts you may have, please complete the survey once only.
  • If this has been sent to you in error and you have never patrolled new pages, please ignore it.

Please click HERE to take part.
Many thanks in advance for providing this essential feedback.

You are receiving this invitation because you have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey

Thank you

I'd like to thank the Academy... and of course my mom, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and everyone who helped me be a great Wikipedian. </sarcasm>

No seriously, thanks for the barnstar! And might I also compliment you on an imposing header! How'd you do it? And may I copy it? :) SweetNightmares (awaken) 04:22, 4 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

MOTDs (This space for rent)

You may have noticed over the past few days that the MOTD that you link to on your user page has simply displayed a red link. This is due to the fact that not enough people are reviewing pending MOTDs here. Please help us keep the MOTD template alive and simply go and review a few of the MOTDs in the list. That way we can have a real MOTD in the future rather than re-using (This space for rent). Any help would be appreciated! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 08:56, 7 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Jccc-logo.png)

Thanks for uploading File:Jccc-logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:04, 23 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Question on edit of "Innovis"

Hey just trying to figure out the proper proceedure on edit in Wiki. I see that you have reverted article back to old information - I would like to edit with proper format. I am new to wiki and want to do this right. I forgot to put edit summary in - question is that on the edit page? thanks for your help. ~~DMuschott~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dmuschott (talkcontribs) 12:11, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi DMushcott! Yes I reverted your edits. To me they looked like maybe Non-Neutral Point of view edits or maybe vandalism. Since there was no edit summary, I didn't know why the edits were made. I knew that Innovis is a credit reporting agency, so a new user making edits like those looks like perhaps someone who is trying to remove mention of it. Please feel free to make any constructive edits to articles, but remember to say why you made the edits. Also, you marked the edits as Minor edits. Minor edits are for things like spelling, whitespace edits, grammar, etc. Removing content should never be marked as a minor edit, unless those edits were vandalism. There are certain articles that I monitor (as all users do and can, just click the star at the top of the article), and when I saw a minor edit that removed content with no edit summary, I reviewed the edit, then reverted it as it didn't seem constructive. As always, if you need help, please feel free to ask me. I love new editors and will always help out. Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 20:02, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

About my IP

Hello. I wonder where did you find the info that my IP address was from Belgrade and belonged to a student facility? It most certainly doesn't :) I got a little worried, because that's my own IP that I've had for 6 years now and I hope it's not endangered in some way :/ 77.70.30.216 (talk) 22:38, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

P.S. I am not from Serbia, but from neighbouring Bulgaria. 77.70.30.216 (talk) 22:52, 24 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
My Mistake!! You should create an account so that its not linked to any IP. You don't have to provide any personal information to do so and you gain a lot of advantages to doing so. You seem to be an experienced editor as well, so thank you for all you've done. :) Heres all the reasons why someone would want to create an account: Wikipedia:Why create an account?. Ill get that shared ip warning removed! :) Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 22:14, 25 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

America's Test Kitchen

I wasn't advertising America's Test Kitchen. Wikipedia put on the America's Test Kitchen talk page that there needs to be a production section. I was trying to put some media/show contacts because Wikipedia wanted a production section. I guess I didn't do it right. I guess I should have labelled the section "Production" and put "Produced by such and such companies" and "Contact such and such people and/or companies for information." Proposed deletion of University of Texas Inter-Cooperative Council

The article University of Texas Inter-Cooperative Council has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable sources providing notability for this page

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

Hi Dillard. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:32, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Shooting of Michael Brown Page Protection

Why is the Michael Brown page locked? There's lots of inaccuracies. You cherry picked a USA article on grand juries which gives an inaccurate legal perspective. In some high profile cases, including federal and rIco cases, the grand jury is presented with enormous amounts of evidence over a period of months. Also Brown was not a student. His enrollment in the local technical school for a business certificate was never established. 173.63.42.120 (talk) 03:36, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi 173.63.42.120, The reason that Michael Brown is protected is to prevent vandalism. Since the page is so high profile, it is a target of vandalism. According to a Wikipedia Help article, Wikipedia: Protection Policy:

Semi-protection prevents edits from unregistered users (IP addresses), as well as edits from any account that is not autoconfirmed (is at least four days old and has at least ten edits to Wikipedia) or confirmed. This level of protection is useful when there is a significant amount of disruption or vandalism from new or unregistered users, especially when it occurs on biographies of living people who have had a recent high level of media interest.

I Highly encourage you to edit the English Wikipedia with reliable sources. If you would like to edit protected pages, you must first create an account. After you have created an account, you will have to wait at least 4 days, or have at least 10 edits. Creating an account is super easy, requires minimal information, and has only benefits. Please see Wikipedia:Why create an account? for more information. Best, Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 03:53, 26 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!

  • What? Wiki Loves Pride, a campaign to document and photograph LGBT culture and history, including pride events
  • When? June 2015
  • How can you help?
1.) Create or improve LGBT-related articles and showcase the results of your work here
2.) Upload photographs or other media related to LGBT culture and history, including pride events, and add images to relevant Wikipedia articles; feel free to create a subpage with a gallery of your images (see examples from last year)
3.) Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Or, view or update the current list of Tasks. This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Visit the group's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome!

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's main talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing!

Image Resolution

Hi there!

I've noticed you've adjusted the levels on several images and in the process have resized the images to a lower resolution as well. I'm a bit curious as to why, since Wikimedia Commons prefers images in the highest available resolution. Please see here if you're curious: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:FAQ#What_resolution_should_the_images_I_upload_be.3F

Cheers! Zzyzx (talk) 08:40, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Oh wow i don't even remember doing any of this. Its been quite a long time since I've edited images. I'm going to have to go back and dig through my contributions to see what you're talking about. Let me get back to you. Dillard421♂♂ (talk to me) 17:23, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
