Hello Polly,

I've made changes in the images tags in Friday. Right now they seem marked for speedy deletion. Please check them again, or if possible provide me with guidance what is wrong with them. One of the image - the logo is obtained by the web-site owner. The seccond image - screenshot of the main page I did it myself. I think I manage to tag them well, using example from other sites, but obviosly something is wrong. Please help me fix that, I will appriciate any form of help. Sorry for all the troubles.

Dimitar

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Lang-8-logo.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 21:38, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{helpme}}

Hello Deon,

I'm trying to tag corectly my uploaded images. As you can see they are due to be deleted, because of copyright violation. One of the image is company logo, obtained from the web-site owner, the other is screenshot on the web-site, that I made it myself. I used the following tag

{{Non-free use rationale
|Article= lang-8.com
|Description= Logo of Lang-8
|Source= Lang-8.com mainpage
|Portion=
|Low_resolution=
|Purpose= For use on the article [[Lang-8.com]]
|Replaceability=
|other_information=
}}

== Licensing: ==
{{Non-free web screenshot}}

I tagged the images in Friday,(the last day, before the initial notice for copyright issue expire), but still the images are due to be deleted. Maybe I tag them in the wrong way - I guessed, that the tag above is for this purpose - the images are owned by the company(or at least that is my understanding of this way of tagging). Can you please help use the appropriate tag, if the one above is not corect? Thank you in advance for all your efforts Dimitar (Dimitar77atanasov (talk) 22:22, 12 July 2009 (UTC))Reply

Hi there. I'll try to sort it out; I'll reply more soon. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  22:28, 12 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
OK, I've fixed them to an extent; the 'source' needs to be the whole URL, such as;
|Source= http://lang-8.com/static/images/logo_loggedin.gif?r090708a
Also, the first picture is a {{non-free logo}}, not a screenshot.
The files do need an article though; non-free images that are not used on a live article are removed after 7 days.
Cheers,  Chzz  ►  22:40, 12 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Hi Chzz, thank you very much. I see where I mess up. The article is ready, on my page, but because the former article was deleted, I'm cautios (after reading many warnings)for moving this article to the main wiki page. I read about option for some editors to check my article, and help me revised it, before it go alive, and if it is posiible, can you also tell me what I can do to have this happen? Then I can link the image to existing page and it won't be deleted. Thank you for the fast reaction and all the efforts.

Best regards Dimitar

Speedy deletion nomination of Lang-8

edit

A tag has been placed on Lang-8 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 01:30, 16 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (File:Lang-8-logo.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Lang-8-logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. FileBot (talk) 01:09, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
