Disruptive edits to taxon templates
editPlease stop making unilateral edits to templates which alter hundreds of articles simultaneously. If you wish to change the taxonomy across several wikiProjects, please discuss these changes on their relevant talk pages first. Dinoguy2 (talk) 19:51, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- This is correct but we select the most major groups to include in the taxobox. It is easy to see that birds are within Dinosauria by clicking up through the links, or by reading the article text. The templates are limited and become broken when too many taxa are included, which is why we need to use several skip taxa. The skip taxa are placed strategically so the immediate parent will appear on the page.
- Birds are dinosaurs, and also Avemetatarsalia, and Orionides, and Tetrapodomorpha. It's not possible to include every taxon in the taxobox! Dinoguy2 (talk) 00:51, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- If you are interested in displaying phylogenetic nomenclature, why would you want to display any "class"? Terms like class and order are not part of phylogenetic taxonomy. Dinoguy2 (talk) 13:09, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
