Hello DisplayGeek. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

• Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
• Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
• Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
• Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

Hi DisplayGeek, I noticed you didn't answer the above accusation that you have a WP:COI, so I thought I'd give you a chance to self-disclose if you do have. I noticed another editor is making such a claim, so I do feel as though it would be constructive to. From my perspective, I have seen you make good quality technical edits and have not noticed a POV issue although your account is almost a WP:SPA, regards, Widefox (talk) 08:17, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

I consider myself a professional... and will answer direct factual issues regarding the factual basis of any edit I make, but that particular individual had made it clear that s/he thought that PenTile technology was a fraud perpetrated on the consumer. He isn't the only individual to have that opinion. I personally added the Controversy section to allow that opinion to be explained. However, that individual, who has never created a UserID for himself, has gone far further than questioning the technology's description in an encyclopedic fashion, but has instead attempted to use the Wiki entry on PenTile to vent his personal spleen regarding the technology. From his own words, "I, like countless other people feel like i have been scammed with the claims over display resolution." (This was posted on the PenTile Talk page and was reverted by Mod.TorrentRealm as inappropriate.) I've tried to keep my edits to factual corrections only. As to not doing much other edits and thus looking like an WP:SPA, I've made edits in other places where I know the facts. Given that I AM an expert in displays and video, I've made more on this topic than others. Does having personal and professional knowledge make one incapable of being objective? Or does it allow one to know the facts? For example, in one entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swimming_at_the_1981_Summer_Universiade> I made a correction regarding a misidentification of Monte Brown (swimmer born 1960) with Monte Brown (Football player born 1970) because I knew Monte Brown (swimmer) from my childhood, in fact, he is my younger brother. Does that make me have a conflict of interest? Or one who is simply knowledgeable? I know a great deal about PenTile displays... and indeed about non-PenTile displays... as I've been in the displays and video business since 1976. Who but one who is an expert in displays can answer some of the technical questions regarding this entry?

This person's latest edits removed an article entry answer to a question originally posted on the talk section of PenTile entry regarding power savings. This reduced the usefulness of the article... but I'm the one with a conflict of interest for making that kind of data available? DisplayGeek (talk) 01:00, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, DisplayGeek. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
