Welcome!
editHello, DominatorST, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.
I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

GMO & pesticide related topics
editThis is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in genetically modified organisms, commercially produced agricultural chemicals and the companies that produce them, broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor. In addition to the discretionary sanctions described above the Arbitration Committee has also imposed a restriction which states that you cannot make more than one revert on the same page in the same 24 hour period on all pages relating to genetically modified organisms, agricultural biotechnology, or agricultural chemicals, broadly construed and subject to certain exemptions.

- Hi, I see you're a student that has chosen to edit in GMO/pesticide areas. The above notice is meant to give you a heads up that this is a controversial area to edit in, and is subject to additional restrictions. One of those is what we call 1RR where you cannot engage in more than one revert in 24 hours, or trying to edit war content in that you recently introduced that has been disputed without gaining consensus on the article talk page.
- This isn't meant to discourage you from editing, but students often are caught off guard by these subjects and often encouraged to choose a different subject, so I wanted to make sure you were aware. That's also complicated by other editors already carefully working on where content should be placed. Much of the content you tried to introduce is already present in various articles between Monsanto legal cases, glyphosate, etc. There are also some major issues with your edits that also resulted in the removal. We follow what we call WP:NPOV and cannot introduce our own tone or opinions, which is another policy WP:SYNTH. Content like this
Bayer knew they were getting the worlds top weedkiller but they did not have a clue about the backlash it would come with.
is just one example of that tone. We also need to be careful about insinuating the glyphosate is carcinogenic when practically every independent scientific agency disagrees with the idea that it is a carcinogenic risk, so the legal aspects are also approached carefully because of that. Thanks for your WP:BOLD edit here to Monsanto. I appreciate that you looked for reliable sources before trying to add new material. Most new editors don't do that. Our rules for sourcing can be complex. You might read over WP:MEDRS. I see that you put your large section in the sandbox before adding. It is a good place to experiment. Having all your work reverted can be frustrating. I suggest trying smaller edits of one sentence at a time with your source. Then if your addition is reverted, ask on the article talk page (Talk:Monsanto) why, and see if there is anything of substance that can be added. This is the process called WP:BRD that is used when new edits are rejected. I suggest you read over WP:BRD. If someone reverts your work, avoid the temptation to hit undo--go to the talk page. It may be a problem with your source, or it may be that it is already covered elsewhere. I don't know if anything in your proposed edit can be salvaged. You might also take a look at my advice to new editors that I often give to editors who jump into controversial topics. It is at the top of my user page: User:David Tornheim.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, or try the WP:Village Pump.
Good luck editing! --David Tornheim (talk) 07:25, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
