Quick question
editDo you have a published source for his date of birth (or year)? I actually suggest only using the year rather than full date for personal id reasons. If there's a source that states his age, it is fine to back into the year (simple math is allowed for such purposes). S0091 (talk) 17:04, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- I don't have a source but it's a good suggestion. I'll change it to just the year Donjobrien (talk) 17:19, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

S0091 (talk) 17:45, 13 September 2024 (UTC)Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Donjobrien. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Colin O'Brien (actor), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.
You have already declared your COI so you are good there. Now that this is an article, you (or anyone affiliated with him) should not edit it directly but make WP:edit requests and may find the Edit Request Wizard helpful. I also strongly suggest reading Wikipedia's Biographies of living people policy. If a major issue arises, you can leave a note at the WP:Biographies of living people noticeboard (something defamatory, etc.) for quick handling. (Hopefully doesn't happen but you never know...it is out in the world now, open for anyone to edit). The article will go through another review before it is indexed on search engines. S0091 (talk) 18:00, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- I appreciate your guidance and very valuable feedback in drafting this article. I will certainly continue to follow the COI guidelines regarding any future edits. Thanks again, and have a good weekend! Donjobrien (talk) 18:16, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your transparency and willingness to take onboard feedback. If you ever have questions or need help, you can ask at the Teahouse (forgot to mention that). Oh, yeah...it is Friday! :) S0091 (talk) 18:39, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- One more thing. I suspect you are also going to want a photo of him included. My best advice is use one you took yourself. It's just easier due to copyright laws (the photographer holds the copyright) and upload to it Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:File upload wizard and choose non-free content) rather than Commons because images on Commons are available for anyone to use however they like.
