If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. BethNaught (talk) 19:40, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Close paraphrasing is still in breach of copyright and Wikipedia policy. Wherever possible, you need to write your own words, not take their words and change them a bit. Thanks for trying to edit within the rules, but please be more careful of copyright. Also putting the mission statement without quotations is inappropriately promotional.   There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. BethNaught (talk) 22:09, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  NeilN talk to me 22:11, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Note you can be unblocked if you indicate you understand and will abide by our copyright policies. --NeilN talk to me 22:13, 16 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dougernst. I just had one of our respected editors, Cullen328, approach me on my talk page, saying he might know you in real life. If you'd be willing to take some advice from him as to our policies and guidelines, I will happily unblock you. You can write your response here. --NeilN talk to me 04:39, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Doug,
I am Jim Heaphy in American Canyon, and am an experienced Wikipedia editor. The Napa Valley Register ran an article about my editing a couple of years ago. I am willing to give you a hand to better understand Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please let me know. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:08, 17 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
