Conflict of interest

edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article AVTEC, Alaska's Institute of Technology, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 19:52, 6 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Talkback

Hello, Dpaperman. You have new messages at Wikipedia:Editor assistance/Requests.
Message added 00:50, 8 January 2011 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hi, you can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. In addition to the comments at the talkback above, note that

  • Your article had already been tagged for conflict of interest, lack of independent sources and tone.
  • It was clearly intended to promote the institute and its courses
  • It did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts or show that it meets the notability guidelines.
  • The article has very little factual content in its one proper paragraph — we are not even told the number of students. positive reputation throughout the state... programs offered are more than traditional vocational education. is just spam.
  • The rest of the article was just a list of your courses, with direct links from the text to your course pages (they weren't even relegated to external links). That's just spam. If people want to know about your courses, they can go to your college web site, they shouldn't be linked from an encyclopaedia.
  • The institute is notable, and needs an article, but this isn't it. Speedy deletion is what it says; for articles that meet the criteria, there is no discussion, no period of grace. If you want, I can sandbox the deleted text for you, but you might be better starting from scratch.
  • One technical point, nothing to do with deletion. In your ref you put Council on Occupational Education [http://council.org/forms/acc_membership.pdf] 2010 Membership Directory of COE, Page 6 which appears as Council on Occupational Education [1] 2010 Membership Directory of COE, Page 6, better to do as Council on Occupational Education [http://council.org/forms/acc_membership.pdf 2010 Membership Directory of COE, p 6], which appears as Council on Occupational Education 2010 Membership Directory of COE, p 6

Hope this helps Jimfbleak - talk to me? 07:02, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
