Hi Dr Carrotflower!
I'm the grumpy old editor who reverted your work on Sara Flower. If you have any questions about it, please contact me. There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
I checked up on a later edit, the subject with which I think you were more comfortable. I guess Sara Flower was something thrown at you with the injunction "improve it". Anyhow, on to the current topic, which I won't touch, but offer a few tips.
- "Curly quotes", as in “The Way West,” are deprecated. Change them to the straight quotes, as on a computer keyboard. "The Way West". And I don't think there would have been a comma in the title of the PBS series. Logically not.
- And when you invoke a wikilink, check that it does not inadvertently lead to an irrelevant article or to a disambiguation page. The Jungle Book links to the Rudyard Kipling classic, not the Walt Disney film or one of several live-action films. Presumably not the "dab page" as some old Wikipedians call the list of related articles.
- Oh, and another thing: titles of major works: films, books, albums. They are italicized, using two single quotes, So Handel's Messiah or Queen's A Night at the Opera or the Marx Brothers' A Night at the Opera (but not songs - even grandiose ones like Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" or Mercury's "Bohemian Rhapsody" - they get ordinary double quotes)

Oh, and I'm not an expert or admin, just someone who felt guilty correcting someone who's probably smarter and almost certainly younger. Doug butler (talk) 07:19, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
