Purpose of talk pages

edit

I find it unusual that you, much like User:GabrielVelasquez, whose interests you seem to share to an unusual degree, also see fit to indicate that others should leave your talk page alone. It is in fact the case that the talk page is created to be a place where one can contact the editor in question directly, if for whatever reason another editor thinks it the case that the contact would be best made away from the article talk page. The fact that Gabriel made a similar statement on the Talk:Nontrinitarianism/References page, and he is the only other editor I can remember seeing who has ever made such a statement, strikes me as being particularly interesting. However, in any event, please be advised that this is not "your" page. It is a page created so that other editors can make contact with you. In any event, if you are a new user, I would like to apologize to you for the misidentification and hope that, as time goes on, it will be increasingly clear that you are not that other individual. I would like to welcome you to wikipedia, and see to it that you are available of our various policies and guidelines, which are unfortunately occasionally daunting. This provides links to most of the most important ones:
Welcome!

Hello, Dr Henry Draper, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!
