Re:Templates
editI am not quite sure exactly what you are referring to. Can you be more specific, please? J.delanoygabsadds 02:48, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Templates
editSorry it took so long to respond, I was out golfing. Anyway, I'm not the most familiar with templates, but I did find a list of them here. Useight (talk) 00:57, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia. A user asked me about your adding of the {{Weasel}} template to a large number of football-related biographies. I believe most, if not all of them, have been reverted by now. It seems to me that at least in some of the instances, such as in Rivelino, you were correct, since there are indeed weasel words in the article's text. In others, however, the problem was perhaps more along the lines of lacking external sources. In cases like that, you should consider using templates like {{Refimprove}} or {{Unreferenced}}. If the article happens to be a stub, however, it is usually unnecessary to tag the article as having problems. That's because a stub is, by definition, not a good article — although it may be a good stub, that is, good as far as stubs go. It is a "work in progress", something from which to build an actual article. It is usually redundant to tag a stub as being "poorly written", or in need of sourcing. The important thing is to tag the stub as a stub, preferably using the appropriate stub category template.
Also, when you intend to tag or otherwise edit a large number of articles similarly, it is almost certain to draw attention from other people working within the same general interest area. In order to avoid misunderstandings, and possibly having your work reverted because it was either misunderstood or deemed inappropriate, it is usually a good idea to start a centralized discussion with other users beforehand, get feedback and only then proceed to the heavy editing intended.
I hope all of this helps. Cheers, Redux (talk) 12:42, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
