Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

GOCE invitation

edit

Hi Drianmcdonald, I'm Baffle_gab1978, a coordinator at the Guild of Copy Editors (GOCE). I saw your edits at Molecular diagnostics and wondered whether you'd like to join the Guild. The article is currently awaiting a GOCE copy-edit, requested here by another editor. May I ask whether you intend to further expand the article? If so, a copy-edit is probably pointless at the moment and the request can be declined. Meanwhile, I'll wish you happy editing and I hope you decide to stay around. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 05:51, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

After the work you did turning that article form a load of incomprehensible 'stuff' to an article that is worthy of its place here I commend the invitation to you. Fiddle Faddle 08:59, 1 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Citing a segment of a journal article that's in Wikisource

edit

As I was reading a letter relevant to Jain vegetarianism#Historical_background, I noticed it was on Wikisource. So I thought I'd add it as a reference.

It's included in a 1933 journal article (which is what I was reading). But the Wikisource cite templates seem to assume that if your article is part of something else (eg a Journal) then the whole something else is part of the Wikisource URL.

Anyway, you can see my struggles in my May 12 revision to that page; in the end, I kludged it by including the necessary info the volume. But it'd be nice to know how to get both the correct Wikilink, and the correct Journal citation.

Hi Drianmcdonald. I've tweaked the citation a little using the "chapter", "plaintitle" and "editor" parameters. The problem here is you have a letter within an article within a book, and the template doesn't seem to support that degree of precision. Hopefully I've improved the situation a bit but it's not perfect so I'll leave the help notice up. benzband (talk) 15:37, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
You might be able to get around the issue by using the {{cite journal}} template instead - cite the journal using that template and add the Wikisource link in the URL parameter. Just a thought. Yunshui  10:31, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

It looked okay before I pressed save. Perhaps there was an accidental copy and paste with the mouse that I didn't notice? I'm not sure what happened, but that'll teach me to skip preview. Thank you for catching it. Ian McDonald (talk) 13:54, 22 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
