If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

- You must back up claims you make in articles with reliable sources. Simms' entry into the Houston mayoral race is based on a story in the Houston Chronicle, which says in part: "The other announced challenger is Kevin Simms, whose major splash at City Hall was his involvement in a controversy surrounding Councilman Jarvis Johnson. Simms, acting as a volunteer intern in Johnson's office…"[2] It mentions neither a doctoral degree held by Simms nor appointment as chairman of The MAGnet. —C.Fred (talk) 22:18, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Assuming we are speaking to Kevin Simms, it is generally considered bad form to make edits about yourself on Wikipedia. As a candidate for Mayor, eventually there will be other reliable sources (such as news articles, or non-partisan sites such as the LWV) that will report on your candidacy and describe your qualifications. Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Houston mayoral election, 2011. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been automatically reverted.
- If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
- ClueBot NG produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
- The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Houston mayoral election, 2011 was changed by Drkevins (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.950757 on 2011-05-26T22:25:31+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 22:25, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing, as you did at Houston mayoral election, 2011. Your edits have been reverted or removed.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively may result in you being blocked from editing.
Your latest edit added material which is not present in the cited source and broke an Interwiki link.
Please, join the discussion on Talk:Houston mayoral election, 2011 and explain the changes you're trying to make. There are other editors willing to help you understand why your changes are being reverted and what sources you would need to provide for the changes to stick. If you join in the discussion, we can help you. If you continue to edit war without providing explanations, then your edits will have become disruptive enough that they will require us to block your account. —C.Fred (talk) 22:26, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
