Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw you edited Camp Connell, California to remove the target of the redirect. I have reverted your edit because I believe that it is a valid redirect. If you disagree, you can make a nomination at redirects for discussion. Let me know if you have any questions, and happy editing! HouseBlastertalk 19:52, 19 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Camp Connell is a place, a town in California located 1 mile east of Dorrington. This redirect was invalid, and is causing issues with the business Camp Connell General Store. I'd rather not have to take legal action, but since this redirect is changing the location of Camp Connell General Store on some Map Apps it is causing irreparable harm to the business. There are full time residents in Camp Connell, and as noted on the Dorrington page, Jack and Doreen (I believe that was her name offhand) started Camp Connell Resort in 1928. It is a place, it does exist, and therefore should be recognized as such (NOTE - the Post Office serving Camp Connell and Dorrington, now located in Dorrington is the Camp Connell Post Office) Dtulipani (talk) 20:02, 19 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Houseblaster - my apologies that you felt threatened. You are wrong and I will seek resolution with WIKI. You clearly have not adequately investigated the matter, and therefore I will make my case to the proper avenues here. Dtulipani (talk) 22:56, 19 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Are you a paid editor? Have you looked up what facts you have overlooked? Camp Connell is a town. It's locatable on map apps and AirBnb apps. Your reestablishing a redirect that shouldn't be in there is eliminating history of this area. Also, if you want to look up the info and be better at this edit, you'll notice Dorrington should have a link to Camp Connell because the owners of Camp Connell Resort (no longer a place) named Dorrington. I have filed a dispute resolution on this issue. Dtulipani (talk) 23:13, 19 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for withdrawing the legal threat. Now that that is out of the way, I can respond to the substance of your previous messages.
I see you have filed a dispute resolution request. I strongly urge you to withdraw said it. The third bullet point in the instructions states "[t]he dispute must have been recently discussed extensively on a talk page (not just through edit summaries) to be eligible for help at DRN. The discussion should have been on the article talk page. Discussion on a user talk page is useful but not sufficient, because the article talk page may be watched by other editors who may be able to comment. Discussion normally should have taken at least two days, with more than one post by each editor." (emphasis mine).
I am not a paid editor, but I will note that "causing issues with the business Camp Connell General Store" sounds like you benefit financially or are making these changes on behalf of someone who would benefit financially. If this is the case, you are considered to be a paid editor on Wikipedia.
I reverted your change because, on Wikipedia, you need to provide evidence in the form of reliable sources to support a given change. As you did not, I chose to challenge your addition. Do you have any reliable sources that directly support the fact that Camp Connell is a town in California? Google Maps, Apple Maps, Airbnb, and a picture of the sign would all be considered original research, and thus would not qualify as reliable sources. Original research is a tricky concept; it takes a little getting used to! In a nutshell, sources must be previously published and they must explicitly support the fact of the matter asserted. Being distinct locations on Google Maps implies that Camp Connell is a separate town, but it does not say so explicitly. You would not need to prove a negative, but you would need to show a reliable source that states Camp Connell is a town. Because you were the person who added the information, the burden is on you to find reliable sources. Let me know if you have more questions! HouseBlastertalk 00:15, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

There is no claim to benefit financially. I am interested in providing what people in this community ask for, a history of Camp Connell. I intend to provide that history with the information that is available from 1st hand sources (I have communicated with a relative of Jack and Doreen Connell for first hand history on the establishment of Camp Connell and the surrounding area). Typically people don't do a search on Wikipedia anyway to find the Camp Connell General Store anyway. The only reason I'm pursuing this is because the Calaveras Visitors Bureau asked for some History on Camp Connell (not the store, but the area) and I was shocked and appalled that there was the erroneous redirect from Camp Connell to Dorrington. Have you read the Dorrington page? If you had you would know that Dorrington was named after a relative of Jack and Doreen Connell and there should be a link from Dorrington page to Camp Connell. If I'm going to dig up this information, I would rather have a link about the area from Camp Connell to Wiki, but if not I can go to the Calaveras History.org people and you and the rest of the Wiki people can remain misinformed. You only removed a redirect; you didn't actually add anything. So, those edits were less than helpful, unfortunately. Drmies (talk) 02:47, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I actually don’t know how to add a page. I received some information from the namesake of the town’s relatives and they are searching for more information. I have also reached out to members of the community to help with their contributions Dtulipani (talk) 02:54, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

My intention contains none of the above. I was contacted by the local visitor bureau and was amazed to find that a search of Camp Connell, CA redirects to Dorrington. The facts, if they are at all important, Camp Connell is a town located next to Dorrington, with a unique history. That history is not now reflected on Wikipedia. If you’re interested in facts, please note the following; there is no designated post office for Dorrington, there is one for Camp Connell. Camp Connell can be accessed by any map app, and to ignore the fact that this place is a town, with a history is to ignore the facts. Dtulipani (talk) 02:43, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

What is your association with the local visitor bureau? Why did you warn of the possibility of legal action? Robert McClenon (talk) 13:14, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
