You seem to have the wrong idea about Wikipedia. No one owns articles here, not even yours. Take a deep breath and have a look at WP:GD. An AfD is not about you personally, and the discussion itself need never be personal. It almost never is unless someone makes it that way.

Nor do any of us "own", in any sense, the articles we author or edit. Anyone can edit anything here. As it says at the bottom of the edit page, "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it." Editing occasionally goes as far as deletion. It happens. Again, it's not about you.

Fact is, all Tolkien wrote about stone giants occupies one paragraph in The Hobbit. They don't even fit well into the rest of his mythology -- The Hobbit originally wasn't intended to be a "canonical" part of it -- so it was something fanciful that he never developed further. (There is a hint -- nothing more -- that the assault on Caradhras as the Fellowship was attempting the Redhorn Pass, attributed by them as the malice of the mountain itself, was an instance of a nature spirit such as a stone giant might be thought to be. But it's only a hint, and was again not developed further in anything else he wrote. He never wrote anything called "Guide to Middle-earth". There have been, and are, books with that title and they might even say, "Guide to Tolkien's Middle-earth", but none of them were written by him. He wouldn't have had the time, even if he were so inclined. )

As far as citing sources goes, see WP:CITE. You need not do any elaborate footnoting at this point, but it would be useful if you at least listed your references. There are a number of handy templates such as {{cite book}} that can help you with that. TCC (talk) (contribs) 04:20, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

That does not help me at all! I don't want to read some WPGD or waterever it is. I know how Wikipedia works, I have used it for years. The only thing I want to do is is some how make you see the information that I have put is correct. And the only thing I want you to do is to get that stupid Deletion thing off My (yes it is my page and I call it what I want)page. And if you would stop screwing around and take it off, it would make both of us happier, because I know you don't like me like this all up in your face, and I don't like taking more of my time off to explain information I already have again, just to prove it's right. So just doe it, it's not bothering you so what do you care? Seriously, WHY DO YOU CARE?!?!

If I didn't care, I wouldn't bother editing here at all. TCC (talk) (contribs) 05:53, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fine! Go check the dang page out at the bottom I listed my main source, now would take that deletion thing off?

I'm afraid not. I keep telling you that Tolkien did not write that book. See the Library of Congress record on it. Foster wrote it. When it was written in 1971 there was a lot of guesswork about much of Tolkien's world since The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, The History of Middle-earth, and The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien had not yet been published. This is an obsolete source, and information in it not found in LotR or TH is not canon. TCC (talk) (contribs) 06:09, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

When I said "WHY DO YOU CARE?!?!" I meant about my stuff. I don't really care about anything else here anyways.

As I said, this isn't about you. It's about the encyclopedia. TCC (talk) (contribs) 06:09, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay then, why do you care what I wrote in our page? When it is all correct!

Two reasons:
  1. Wikipedia content should be verifiable and be based on reliable sources. I explained above that you are not using a reliable source.
  2. It's actually not correct. TCC (talk) (contribs) 00:35, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Have you seen the cited freaking source. AND IT IS CORRECT! This is a real book, By Robert Foster, yes I screwed the name up I will re write it but this guy was a friend of Tolkien, a family friend and he knew everything about Tolkien's world, It said so at the back of the freaking book. This is a very relaiable souurce. I might even create a page for that book, but you and your stupid editing will come along, saying something like, oh Its not real, or I don't like it, it should be deleted, or something else like that.

See WP:CIVIL. TCC (talk) (contribs) 04:53, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Now why would I want to read this, I act however I want, ecspecially when someone has a deletion thingy on the page I created! So don't tell me about no wp Civil crap thing, cause you are wasting your time!

YOU HAD MY PAGE DELETED, YOU KNEW THIS WAS ALL TRUE, YOU JUST HAD TO BE A BITCH AND GO OFF AND DELETE IT. BY TOMMOROW OR THE NEXT DAY, PREPARE TO SEE IT ALL AGAIN!!!!!!

You have been indefinitely blocked for making death threats. [1] --Sam Blanning(talk) 00:49, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppetry case

edit

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Durin's Bane for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. TCC (talk) (contribs)

First, I will stop, second I'm not a sock puppet, because when you blocked me first, I tried to tell you using my other password, but you didn't belive me, third of all I just go on rages and I can't help it but I do. I'm really sorry and I will not do it again. Just please let me back on. If you don't for a while just do this for me please. It is killing me and because of you I can't correct it. On the Smaug page it says he raised only fifty feet high with wings out strecthed pass one hundred. Correct it and make his height one hundred and fifty on his back legs, about seventy on all fours and make his wingspan past two hundred. This is correct. Please allow me to edeit again or at least do this for me. I have stopped my rages.

Oh about the thing that was said, I swear I did not type that, I swear, I have about 2 friends who know my pass word and my screen name. I'm sorry for any inconvinence.

Unfortunately, you are a sock puppet by your own admission here. You used a different account to evade a block -- unnecessary because a blocked user can always edit within his own user space. It's against Wikipedia policy to do this. See WP:SOCK#Circumventing_policy. There are valid reasons to use more than one account, but doing it so that you can avoid a block or appear to be more than one person in a discussion aren't among them.
But you were blocked because you made a death threat, and it hardly makes it any better that you made it because you fly into uncontrollable rages. I don't know of any cases where a death threat block has been lifted, but who knows? You might be a first.
I didn't block you. That requires admin privileges, and I'm not an admin. You were blocked by User:Samuel Blanning. See your block log. All I did was to report your activity. The decision to ban you was made by others.
If it's not in my power to block you, it's not in my power to unblock you either. To get your case considered for unblocking, see WP:APB. It says there are instructions for appealing a block on the block page. I've never seen a block page, so I can't point you directly to it.
Actually, neither statement would be correct on the Smaug page. Tolkien never said exactly how big Smaug was. You can give estimates found in reputable sources, but can represent them as estimates only. There is no definitive number.
If you have friends who are making trouble for you online, I strongly suggest that you change all your passwords and never tell them to anyone ever again. TCC (talk) (contribs) 23:29, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
