Adding source statements
editIn case you aren't sure how to start adding sources, here's what I do. Go to your preferences on the top right and open Gadgets. Go down to Editing and (depending on your browser) check off "ProveIt." I use the classic version. Now, everytime you edit an article there will be a pop-up on the page bottom right that says "References, add a referecne and proveit. At minimum, fill in the URL of the sourced website, and the title (which is often the title of the article you are sourcing. Make sure with the title that you only capitalize the first word and any proper nouns. Don't capitalize every word. Then make sure the cursor is where the ref will go in the edit and click "insert into edit form."
Then publish the changes and your reference should be there. If it's the first reference of an article you have to make sure there is a "reflist" added to the article, but that will rarely happen. I hope this helps a little. Good luck. Fyunck(click) (talk) 18:23, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
August 2018
editHello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Wikipedia:Teahouse, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:34, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
