Deletion request for Template:Cricket scores succession box
editI placed this request because the content is nearly identical to the standard succession box series and this template really provides no additional information. In addition, nothing actually links to this page, only further proving my point.
A tag has been placed on Template:Cricket scores succession box, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

editWell, I thought it was obvious (hence speedy) but I don't follow the topic, and I'm not particularly concerned either way. Up to you... Studerby 17:17, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Strihavka
editHi Dweller
It was me who did all those NCFC changes for Strihavka. The Czech link was to his former club's official site, and it confirmed that they had allowed him to talk to norwich and that he had agreed terms. The link in english was more vague, but it was the only source i could find for the 1m Euros claim. Most people accept that it's a done deal, do we have to wait for photographic evidence of him a colney before changing the page? A club confirming on its official site that it has sold someone should be enough imho.
Happy to leave it as it is(I'm quite new round here), but i'd like to know the justification.
Interesting collection of contributions, btw.
- Hi. Thanks for the compliment (?). We've a policy called WP:CRYSTAL. It's fine to say that a deal's been agreed, but not completed, but saying he is a Norwich player (adding him to squad lists etc) is anticipating the future and incorrect. Carry on the good work. Cheers, --Dweller 22:32, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Is vs are
editHey dude, User:Siva1979 is changing a whole load of football articles to reflect "so and so F.C. is a football club" (as is currently in NCFC) rather than "so and so F.C. are a football club" (as is currently in ITFC). I'm sure this has been discussed before. Any ideas? The Rambling Man 07:58, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm. My feeling is that the accepted usage is singular for club and plural for team, so "is a club" "are a team" are both correct, but not vice-versa. While strictly speaking a team is also singular, it's accepted British English usage to consider the team as a group of individuals and therefore apply the plural. I remember seeing graffiti some years ago around a European match in London, that read "Parma is great" and thinking it read like a tourist ad and that an English fan writing similarly would definitely have written "Xxxxx are xxxxx". That's my tuppenyworth. I also recommend bringing this to the attention of the football WikiProject. --Dweller 09:53, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, could do that. I just didn't want Siva1979 to change several hundred articles for the sake of it. How are you doing? The Rambling Man 10:13, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

- Hey man, no problem. Real life is interesting for me as well at the moment, not 100% good, but I find smashing a few vandals to pieces a pleasant mind-numbing relief! Anyway, I'm still waiting on my contact for a picture of Sir Bobby and when that pans out I'm pushing him all the way to FA. Until then I'm just mopping up where I can. Glad to hear from you, in any case, and should you feel the urge to do something sometime soon, I won't be more than a few hours away from replying! Take it easy.. How did I find you...
editWell I was really impressed with the speedyness of the user Finngall talk I was building a page and almost like 10 minutes after I started building it, it got tagged for speedy deletion. At first, I was a bit upset but then I msg'ed him and asked why.
He responded with this:
- The welcome template I've added above contains many useful links to help files, policies and procedures. I hope you'll check these over.
- As for the article itself, my suggestion is to create a subpage of your user page to use as a workspace. You can then work on the article at your leisure, and then move it to the main article space when you are done. (You can also request that the subpage be deleted if you don't need it anymore.
- Sorry if the deletion seemed harsh. We try to be welcoming and to not bite the newcomers, but on the other hand, we're not psychic and can only base an assessment of an article on what's there, not on what's going to be there.
- Let me know if you have further questions. Thanks, and take care.
I took his advice and built a page for Misa Campo on my user page, and when it was done I added the info. After finishing the page, I went back to Finngall and asked that he give me some tips, which he did and I'm still continuing to fix and update Misa Campo's article.
I was very impressed by his ability to respond and give me advice and to wish me good luck, while still looking out for wiki's best interest (removing spam, keeping this place clean and useful). That's when I realized I wanted to help new users work on their projects and give them advice as to how to proceed when building a new page.
I went to Finngall user page and found The Rambling Man who gave him a medal, but I noticed The Rambling Man was only a moderator. I checked his page and you gave him a medal, so I went to your page and you had the tag of "This user is an administrator on the English Wikipedia" so I messaged you.
Bottom Line
editI understand the risks in becoming a moderator. The hatred of me, that might be involved. I've always been a passive person, always asking people to come to me if they have a problem and I'd explain myself. So I hope that my "easy to anger" and "always willing to offer advice" attributes will be able to inform new users and keep Wiki clean.
I'm also very excited at the fact that I might be able to help contribute to a very well made, popular, and basically haven in the Internet (the internet has tons of good information that's burried under spam and it's hard to find the good stuff because people put so much crap all over the internet). I want to help a website that filters out the bad, and organizes the good. --Huper Phuff talk 17:20, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

editI am signing off It is 5 AM and I have been up since 6 AM yesterday. So, this will be the last you here from me. AOL gives me a different IP each time I sign on. Anyhow, I am surprised you missed that it is a church cause it said it in the article. But no, I have no idea where it is. Never heard of it until I saw the article! :) I guess Czech Republic or Slovakia - somewhere around there. 172.134.46.45 09:04, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- The article implied that it's a place (a square, perhaps) that seems to include a church. Anyway, sleep well. --Dweller 11:09, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Hey ho
editHey there, yeah, things are going okay for me at the moment, I hope you're similar. I've been focussed on a GA drive right now, it's quite entertaining to see the difference in passing a GA vs an FA, and I've read an awful lot of articles whose subject matter is completely unknown to me! All good though. I'm still holding out on an image of Sir Bobby to carry on there and get him to FA. What's in your world? The Rambling Man 13:52, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
RE: Hello
editEvening. Thanks for the concern, but I'm fine. I've been using pedia less and less, and figured I didn't have much need for a user page. I'll probably put it back up again sometime, but for now I'm happy to keep it blank. The page was pretty pitiful anyway, and I'm busy at the moment, but when I have the time I'll put up a proper page. Cheers :) к1иgf1$н£я5ω1fт 21:37, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
Need help with students
editHi Dweller,
We've got 4 active students at the VC waiting for coaching, 5 if you include JodyB.
LaraLove is active in Wikipedia:Good article candidates, and that whole department seems to parallel WP:FAC in structure. To what extent does can your lesson on developing FACs be applied to GACs?
I've started grilling Lara on her GAC know-how, and your input (comments, questions, contribs analysis) would no doubt be helpful.
Hope to see you on the student's pages.
Disappearing act
editHey, no I missed shep being removed, I guess you'll have to either just reinsert it or go diff-hunting? As for VC, not a problem. Bring it on! The Rambling Man 09:12, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
I have answered your questions on my coaching page. Bart133 (t) (c) 16:41, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

editI've answered your questions. I forgot to drop a line here after I finished and I've been meaning to do it ever since. editThank you! Very kind of you, I see so many people putting in good work, and a lot of what I do (welcome boxes, disambig & red link repair) is just trying to help their work be accessible to as many as possible. It's good to know it's appreciated :) DuncanHill 17:14, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Missing you?
editWell, far be it for me to be getting all sentimental but I'm kinda missing a proper project to collaborate on. I've been the king of GA review (dare I say so myself) but there's nothing like great article creation. I'm still hanging on for Bobby Robson's picture (yeah, three months on...) so perhaps we can move on to something else? If not, just say, no worries. I'm on a wikibreak as of now until the beginning of August so no rush. Hope all is well with you and you're not still too jaded. Best wishes, The Rambling Man 21:06, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

editWell, it' not for me to boss you around, but I guess the Wisden would be the authoritative thing for match reports. I don't have any match oriented books with me, so I guess the match reports would probably be up to you then. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:26, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
