For legal reasons we cannot accept copyright material, even in a user sub-page, unless a copyright release has been made as described above. Asserting permission to use is not enough, nor is making minor changes to the text - see Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
Even if the copyright issue were resolved, the promotional tone of a company or personal website is likely to be unsuitable for an encyclopedia article, which requires a neutral point of view. Article subjects need to have notability, which is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." There is more detail at WP:Notability (people), and good advice on how to write an acceptable article at WP:Your first article. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:30, 22 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

The information you need is actually all in the notices above - please read them all carefully - but to provide more explanation: there are two reasons why we cannot accept mere assertion of permission to use, or any sort of "footnote content from another website as being used with permission". First, we have no way to know that you, at the end of a wire, are who you say you are; and second, release to Wikipedia involves more than just permission to reproduce. At the foot of every edit screen it says "You irrevocably agree to release your contributions under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL", and that includes giving permission to any reader of Wikipedia to copy your text, modify it as he likes, and use it for any purpose, including commercial. It is essential that the actual copyright owner understands and agrees to that.

The simplest way to make a release of material on a website is to display on that website the form of words prescribed in this paragraph. Alternatively, if you, yourself, are the copyright owner, what you need to do is explained at WP:Donating copyrighted materials; if someone else is, see WP:Requesting copyright permission.

Please also bear in mind that material copied from a website may not be suitable, unaltered, for an encyclopedia article, which requires a neutral point of view, must not be promotional in tone, and needs to cite reliable sources to verify what it says, including "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" to demonstrate notability. More advice in WP:Your first article. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:54, 28 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
