Hey, you've been working just as hard, if not harder, on Burkina Faso then myself. You and Blofeld work endlessly to improve Burkina Faso-related articles, an almost inhuman amount of work. Just because I've been drawing some criticism buy users that don't even know me doesn't mean your effor isn't applauded. Cheers for EJF! Note
editYou're becoming more notable. :) Acalamari 02:00, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the laugh! I've now been covered by multiple
sourcesspoofers independent of the subject; although I don't think they are reliable enough :) Not sure about the significance, perhaps the 20 deleted edits were a nice loving biography ;-) Cheers, EJF (talk) 09:46, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Volleyball Federation of Montenegro
edit(paste back from User talk:FelisLeo) Hello, I removed your {{db-bio}} speedy deletion tag from the above article, because it is not a biography and it did "indicate the importance or significance of the subject" (the A7 criterion) as the article stated that the organisation is "the governing body of volleyball in Montenegro"; the importance and significance being that it is the governing body of a professional sport in an independent country. If you wish for this article to be deleted, I suggest you nominate it at AfD. Regards, EJF (talk) 10:54, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
I nominated it CSD:A7 (group) via Twinkle. Which is: An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from questions of verifiability and reliability of sources, and is a lower standard than notability; to avoid speedy deletion an article does not have to prove that its subject is notable, just give a reasonable indication of why it might be notable. A7 applies only to articles about web content or articles on people and organizations themselves, not articles on their books, albums, software and so on. Other article types are not eligible for deletion by this criterion. If controversial, as with schools, list the article at Articles for deletion instead.
I don't think, that that organisation, the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro the with all its red links and no references nor does it inidicate why the subject is significant. FelisLeoTalk! 11:39, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- It meets the "reasonable indication of why it might be notable" criterion. An organisation which oversees a notable sport in a notable country has clear significance, and such a claim is also a "reasonable indication of why it might be notable". Red links are not a reason for deleting articles; they are a reason to create articles. Regards, EJF (talk) 11:48, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
::I disagee, despite all of the wikilawyering common sense dictates those red links will not get blue anytime soon. But then again, we now have bots creating stubs on every village known to mankind which will never be more than stubs so why shouldn't we have an article on this clearly non-notable Volleyball organistation, right? FelisLeoTalk! 12:33, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- "Sigh" if you like, but your standards are not those accepted by the community; [1][2] , among many PRODs and speedy deletion requests declined today. I recommend that you read the criteria for speedy deletion and the deletion policy, which have community consensus. These are not my own standards of notability, but are derived from following the letter and spirit of our policy on the criteria for speedy deletion; not wikilawyering, just ensuring that articles that should not be deleted, are not deleted. I wouldn't be so sure about common sense dictating that those red links will remain red: I think I will create the articles myself within few weeks, although a poor knowledge of Serbo-Croatian will no doubt hinder me. It is not "clearly non-notable"; did you search for sources before applying a speedy deletion tag? It actually does meet our notability criteria; here are some multiple, reliable sources independent of the subject (published in Glas javnosti):[3][4]; more are available if needed. If you have a concern at the lack of referencing, I suggest that you help in the effort too. Your argument about User:FritzpollBot is pure WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS; the creation of thousands of geographical articles has little relevance to a poor tagging of an article for speedy deletion. Although somewhat irrelevant to this discussion, I am a supporter of the bot, and I will be helping in the efforts to produce more articles; an endeavour also supported by community consensus. The village article are expandable; User:Blofeld of SPECTRE will be able to point you to village articles that he himself has expanded, having added images and sourced material. Regards, EJF (talk) 13:31, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
:::I probably shouldn't say this in the mood I am in now but you really like talking down to people? You could also try to teach people something instead of gloatingly pulling up their earlier mishaps. You assume a lot about me. Your loss though. FelisLeoTalk! 13:50, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not talking down to anybody. I'm asking that you would read and learn our policies, which I linked to. I raised the issue because I am most concerned that the articles were being tagged, I am not gloating because the tagging was unsuccessful. Happy editing, EJF (talk) 13:55, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- Argh Sorry for being an asshole, it not supposed to be an excuse but I'm having a really bad day and I'm now running around picking up the pieces. I guess I have some reading up to do on WP:DELETE policy because I do seem to do some bad nominations the last few days. (actually 2 were to test how Twinkle tags a CSD:A7 and I forgot to revert one, you can onfortunately only test the A category on actual articles). Sorry for wasting your time. FelisLeoTalk! 16:31, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- It's no problem, sometimes it's best to say what one thinks. I'm sorry that your day isn't going well; you didn't waste my time, and I apologise if I sounded a bit too blunt. If you ever have any questions or would like any advice about policy or taggings, you can always ask me here on my talk page, and I'll do my best to answer. Best regards, EJF (talk) 16:49, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

editThats brilliant!!! Great work! Great to hear from you. I know you said you'd be occupied this week but I did wonder. If we could get every African article up to start class level huh? What I'm thinking of doing is drawing up a list of Africa cities using World gazetteer, the main cities and towns by country and aiming at getting them up to a start class or at least with references and population ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:17, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes there are still major towns missing. I started a few when I was checking Guinea yesterday. Have a look at Tondon. Quite an interesting history ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:33, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Creating geo lists
editHi I've made an intital suggestion at the GEOBOT talk page in that it would be an excellent idea to generate a full lists of places in a tabled list. Once this is accomplished we can work through what articles could be started in their own right if there is enough info avilabale. I see it as a solid comprehensive base to build geo content on if we have a full world list organized like this. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geography/Bot#Creating lists. Please offer your thoughts thanks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:25, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

- Apologies for the lack of contact/editing, I've been away from the PC for a while and have been elsewhere. I'll be away again from tomorrow until 31st July, heading on holiday to eastern Zakynthos. On a brighter note, I have expanded Kasungu. I'll hopefully be editing regularly in August. Regards, EJF (talk) 15:40, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible system) - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. This message was delivered by xenobot 23:05, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
