Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (EdgeCharter) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guideline to avoid editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Whilst clearly The Randle is a commercial vessel, so are many other listings on wikipedia, this is just one example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anjodi The very reason that I entered The Randle was specifically because I saw other commercial vessels listed on Wikipedia and thought that it would also be applicable to The Randle too. Its a boat is relevant to the description of the subject, and the design is relevant to the subject also but I can change this part of the description if it breaks editorial guidelines. Yes she is nice for a holiday, but so are not all the other hotel barges and cruise liners listed? the reason I choose Edgecharter as the user name as I wanted it to be clear that the listing came from the operator, at least I'm being honest about it. I could have easily hid behind a false name as clearly other operators do in order to get their vessels listed. this policy of having non commercial names is not preventing commercial enterprisers entering on Wikipedia, it just means that they hide under false names, personally I would rather know that and entry came from the company operator, at least then we would be clear as to who was really actually making these entries, rather than hiding behind the myth that they are all coming from non-commercial contributors

I have kept the information to technical aspects of the vessel and wish to develop the edit which focus on the technical and design aspects of operating on the French water system which is clearly useful information to those who which know such things. I wish to develop this subject further but as a first time contributor I clearly have made some errors in unwittingly breaking the wikipedia code.

I can change the user name nut it is not clear how. EdgeCharter (talk) 11:36, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of The Randle, French River Boat (Barge)

edit

The article The Randle, French River Boat (Barge) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

It's a boat. It's built to an old design (apparently). Sounds nice for a holiday, but is it encyclopaedic? I doubt it. Or is it spam?.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Peridon (talk) 22:30, 15 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, your account has been blocked; you are welcome to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
