Speedy deletion nomination of Hostopia
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Hostopia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Gavin.perch (talk) 14:08, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Deleted material from Hostopia
editHowdy! I've re-created the deleted material you requested from the article Hostopia in a sub-section of your User page (User:Edgevaderpro/Hostopia). Feel free to make any changes you see fit to it, and re-submit as an article when appropriate. Happy editing! GeeJo (t)⁄(c) • 23:05, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- With regards to why it was deleted in the first place, it appears that it was seen to be little more than an advertisement for the subject. Looking over it myself, that doesn't really seem to be the case. Still, for a better chance at seeing it kept on Wikipedia, it wouldn't be a bad idea to include references from reliable third-party sources. The article from CBC is perfect, the quote from a forum post is less so. Replacing a few of the less-reliable sources wouldn't go amiss (I'll re-iterate that in my opinion, the speedy deletion was a mistake on the deleting administrator's part. At the very least, it should have been put up for discussion.) GeeJo (t)⁄(c) • 23:10, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
