Thank you for your comments.

As to copyright, the logo was designed by a committee of staff members of Batumi International University. The logo is part of the seal of the legal entity Batumi International University, Ltd. There is no copyright issue here.

The officials of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara greatly appreciate having information about their Republic freely available, and without pejorative comments, to Wikipedia users worldwide. --Edraupp (talk) 18:11, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I do not understand the comment about copyright. There is no copyright issue on the Batumi International University page. The logo was created by BIU but is not copyrighted. So what's the problem?

A representative of the Board said that the negative comments would be removed by today. So what must be done to remove the nasty comment about deletion? Edraupp (talk) 11:33, 22 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

  If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

Asking for help

edit

You would put a request for help on an editor's talk page, never on his or her userpage. Additionally, you can e-mail them by clicking the "E-mail this user" link (if there is one) which appears in the toolbox on your left when you go to that editor's userpage or talk page. Finally: never post your e-mail address, telephone number or other personal information into Wikipedia, as it is crawled constantly by search engines and other software, and you don't want your data taken for use by spammers, phishers and the like. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:56, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Edward,
Thanks for your note. I think I've explained pretty clearly what the article's issues have been: Conflict of interest, no reliable sources, and an institution that has not yet opened. As a member of academia, I respect your position and that of the university, but I am certain you will understand that encyclopedic inclusion requires certain scholarship guidelines. If objective sources can be found to support the university's notability, that would be most helpful. Wikipedia does not generally exclude universities, but as one yet unopened and apparently unsourced, this is problematic, and I am hoping others will weigh in on the deletion nomination page. Best, JNW (talk) 15:19, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to add that an eminent scholar, one who has been appointed as president of a university, is very welcome on wikipedia. As an academic myself, I certainly believe that wikipedia needs more input from good academics. Of course, effective contribution will depend on learning the basics and working with others in line with the rules and principles that govern our activities. I wish you well in doing this. regards, Nomoskedasticity (talk) 12:45, 14 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:BIULOGO2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk) 08:03, 22 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
