ArbCom 2018 election voter message
editHello, Egroeg5. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

editThank you!
editI very much appreciate your asking a question I had wanted to ask of the candidates! Please note that some of the other questioners (e.g. Robert McClennon) asked questions about content disputes, but each of us got at different aspects, and I see merit in having my question answered as well. And FYI, I had asked previous candidates running for ArbCom this same question in 2018 ([e.g. Joe Roe), which is where I got it. [I'm going to add a little more to this, but wanted you to get my thank you and approval for doing this right away. Carry on!] --David Tornheim (talk) 09:24, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
Editing SVG files
editHey Egroeg5. For editing SVG files I use Inkscape. I would agree with you about uploading new files for major edits, although this file is really only being used in the one article and it needs to change with each change in the legislature, so it seems okay to edit it instead of making a new file. There are separate files (or should be) for the election results for placing in articles about each parliament, so I think just changing this one to represent the current makeup is fine. Scottish parliamentary images
editI wanted to update you on my work in this area. Below are four images, all of which have their place in articles, two of which I just created so that some articles made sense.
-
Results of the 2016 election
-
Members at dissolution in 2021 (just prior to the 6 May election)
-
2021 election results
-
Current makeup of the Scottish Parliament
Some articles had the wrong image as a result of the change to File:Scottish-parliament.svg, and some because you'd replaced the file with yours (although they'd still have been wrong with the changes to that file). There may possibly still be some errors on Wikipedias I didn't catch. Ideally what we'd have is a bunch of files with dates showing each change in the composition, although I think we can get away with just these file types in the future:
- Each election's results (seating not relevant)
- The makeup prior to each election (seating could be included if known, but also not relevant)
- One continually updated file with the current makeup and seating
