Hello. I am a designated online Wikipedia online volunteer for the Neurobiology (Spring 2014) class in which you have enrolled. Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have about how to use or edit Wikipedia. I can be reached by posting at User talk:DESiegel. Hi, I'm posting on your talk page!
editHey, I posting on your talk page because we have to, but I really like your description of your horseback riding background and that picture you found! SCarolina55 (talk) 18:54, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
Hey, I am 99% this is you, in my group! Am I allowed to use names haha MissKell (talk) 21:45, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
- MissKell, Unless the user has revealed his or her own real name on Wikipedia, or has explictly given you permission to do so, you should not reveal that user's real name or other personally identifying information such as the user's address, employer, SSN, etc. In the case of a class the fact that a user is enrolled in a specific class, which is identifing info, is already public, which makes this less significant, but it is still better not to use people's real names unless they have done so first. Some users, such as myself, edit openly under their legal names. Such things are treated quite seriously and can be grounds for an immediate block from all editing (although not in the case of casual mentions between friends.) See Posting of personal information.
