Black Jack

edit

Hello Einar. As it happens I do know Jack personally and been keeping an eye on his WP work since he gave up. Thanks to the vigilance of cricket project no harm been done apart from a couple of pointless prod things that were quickly dealt with.

I agree with you and already told jack he should come back. As have others. You could email him yourself direct. His address is on his site.

Beware of trying to start an article about him. I tried to get his work and his name onto WP before but he took it off. He was going to change Pre-1850s in sports article but agreed to leave it alone after the writer (an American baseball fan) got in touch.

Anyway. I don't often write to WP but your message to Jack interests me. I would like to see some real effort here to develop overall sporting history. I suppose it is inveitable that evryone concentrates on their own chosen sport. My sport is rugby but I am very interested in how rugby and soccer developed out of the old folk football in the 1800s. You must be well aware of big WP efforts going into cricket, soccer, baseball in particular. It would be good if someone could coordinate all that effort and channel it into an all sport project.

I have looked at your previouis contributions and I see you are what I call an organiser. I like what you have done with the sport history articles so far. If you have time, could you have a go at an all sport project?

Einar, I shall put a watch on your page so we can correspond here if you prefer. Just put a short 'see Einar' message on my page if I do not respond quickly. I admit I only look in once a week or so but if I had some purpose I guess I could do more.

I shall make sure Jack gets your message and I will tell him again about letting meddling fools get under skin. Mister Clarkson is quite right. Best wishes --GeorgeWilliams 13:51, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Black Jack is back

edit

Einar, thank you very much for your message which is much appreciated. George has been in touch and told me what you said. Clarkson is bang on: that is exactly my problem with certain mindsets on here. I had been thinking of coming back but I've been delayed by events out of my control in the last few weeks.

If you are keen on progressing an all sports history project then count me in because that's something I've been thinking of moving onto to once I've exhausted all my cricket possibilities. If I can help you with that in any way, let me know at once.

By the way, although I've just come back, I will be taking a holiday shortly so don't think I've gone again if I don't reply straightaway! All the best. --BlackJack | talk page 21:30, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your new article re John Leach

edit

Excellent. I have wanted to do one about John for some time on the basis of his work for the ACS but I was going to wait until From Lads to Lord's has been reviewed by the ACS, which will be later this year. I know his date of birth which was in 1952, not 1953, and he comes from Halifax so I'll add those. I shall also include the titles of the other pieces he has had published. Best wishes. --GeorgeWilliams 16:13, 1 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

TeckWiz's RFA

edit

Hey Einar Ragnarsson. Thanks for commenting on my unsuccessful RFA last month under my old name, TeckWiz. I'm now known simply as User:R. I've been very busy lately which is why you're getting now. I will use your comment to help improve, and I hope to keep helping and improving Wikipedia alongside you. --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@(Let's go Yankees!) 16:57, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
