IPA
editI see you have been removing IPA pronunciation guides from articles on New Zealand places. Please don't do this as they assist people who don't speak English or Māoti as a native language.-gadfium 23:32, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- Get it right mate, it's Māori not Māoti --Elijah Wiremu (talk) 02:54, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
New Zealand cities
editThank you for your contributions. However, I ask that you do not remove Template:lang from the leads. This template has a whole range of uses -- see the template page. --Hazhk (talk) 23:12, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
Reverts
editI see that many of your edits have been reverted. I am one of those editors who has seen reason to revert some of your edits. Obviously, what you are doing is controversial. May I suggest that you stop and start a discussion on the New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board to gain consensus? Schwede66 00:30, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
- You are still editing, and what you are doing is not uncontroversial. When I suggested that you start a discussion at the above link, I really meant that. Now is a good time for that discussion. Now is not a good time to continue making controversial edits. Schwede66 02:18, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
- I just love it when foreigners like you tell what I should and shouldn't do, especially when it regards my own native language Te Reo Māori. What do you mean "Controversial", all I'm doing is making the Māori names bold using the default template:lang to give the indigenous names more recognition. If your so concerned why don't you start a discussion about it. --Elijah Wiremu (talk) 02:38, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
- Please note that I have applied a temporary block to prevent further disruptive editing. Schwede66 03:20, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Twizel
editHi, I've just reverted the 'fact' of Ruataniwha being the Māori name for Twizel. It might seems logical that it would be, (i.e Ruataniwha Station, and Lake) but I don't believe it is, or every has been applied to Twiel itself. If you know otherwise, feel free to pop it back, along with a ref to Reputable Source. Snori (talk) 04:52, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
Lumsden/Oreti
editKia Ora Elijah
I am just enquiring in regards to Oreti being the Maori name meaning for Lumsden. I am from Lumsden and am Maori so I am genuinely interested in where you acquired the information on this as I can't seem to find anything via the Internet it's also very difficult to gain information from anyone locally due to the township being a very European settlement . Also my partner and I are taking over a local business which will also be involving a name change, personally I would like to incorporate 'Oreti' but I would like to gain some further knowledge and more legitimate information on the history of Oreti being the Maori alternative to Lumsden. Once I've achieved that from your feedback I will be very proud to make sure all the locals know this information

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
editThinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
