Nihonjoe, sorry for sticking my nose in, but I've seen this lead to confusion before. This standard template doesn't explain the steps needed to resolve the problem perfectly.
Ella, Sophia: We have a strict rule that accounts only be used by one person: see WP:NOSHARING. Personally, I'm not thrilled with this rule, but it's a rule we all have to live with. The standard template above implies that you need to rename this account, when what you really need to do is have separate accounts. There are a couple of ways to fix this, one of which would start with the instructions above, but there would be additional steps. But the simplest would be for both of you to create new accounts, separately, and leave this account blocked. This is one of those cases where you two haven't done anything wrong beyond sharing an account, so creating two new accounts is perfectly fine. You guys could still collaborate on one page, you'll just have to do it with separate accounts. Ask me or Joe here if you have any questions. --Floquenbeam (talk) 18:37, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
We are so sorry!!! I wasn't sure how the policy would go with our name, but would we be allowed to make an account changing it to something that is not a literal name? Thanks! Ella & Sophia joint (talk) 19:18, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, you can't share an account even if the name is more subtle and doesn't advertise it. No need to apologize, no reason to think you'd know about this rule beforehand. I suppose it might be buried in the fine print somewhere, but still. --Floquenbeam (talk) 19:34, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
We need to be assured that every edit from a Wikipedia account - over its entire lifetime - is attributable to the same single individual. If multiple people use one account, and one of them commits some kind of misconduct, then we have no idea who the guilty party was. One person could just claim that the other person was responsible and deny any responsibility (the "my little brother did it" defense). --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:34, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Just as a point of interest, Ella & Sophia, is this maybe a mom/minor daughter thing, where we're exploring the world and finding out what interests us, but we want to make sure minor daughter is protected? Because we have a lot of ways to manage that. Valereee (talk) 23:39, 13 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
We totally get it and are SO sorry. I come from a very different wiki-based Wikipedia site that has a largely different set of rules. We definitely take full responsibility for this, and we will make separate accounts ASAP. We will no longer use this account, so if anyone wants to delete it that is totally okay with us. I may use what I put in the sandbox though for further reference. This is not a family account so that is not a viable excuse for us. If it is okay with everyone we will still work on the sandbox together (meaning a separate sandbox under one of our accounts). Also we will not use our real names. We are again truly sorry about this. We really just wanted to make an under construction article of things about livestock since we have found something shocking in that department that we wanted to possibly make. Thank you all for your time.

You're fine working in sandboxes together, and we do understand that policies here are not the same as elsewhere. We can't delete accounts, but you can abandon this one. Valereee (talk) 21:29, 14 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
Will do. Thanks for understanding. Sorry for all of the confusion!!
