What you have so far is very well written, however I think you are going off on the wrong tangent. While Barbara McClintock did discover transposable elements, the page that you're editing is on transposon mutagenesis. It would be appropriate to say that this work could not be possible without the discovery of transposable elements by McClintock, but a detailed bio of her work with maize is out of place here.
Transposon mutagenesis is a genetic tool that is often used to examine the effects of knocking out genes, of altering the regulation of genes near to where the transposon inserts, etc. There is a huge number of uses of transposon mutagenesis - try to focus on these, on the mechanism by which transposons hop in and out of the genome, of the different types of transposons that can be used, etc. etc.
