IPv6 prefix overly blocked - 2001:1af8:fe00::/39 (SixXS nlhaa01) is blocked because of 2001:1af8::/32 block

Hi "Elockid",

You have blocked a full /32 ( Special:BlockList/2001:1af8::/32), which is the ISP Leaseweb. They are indeed mostly a hosting company. But inside that /32 there is a /39 which is actually used by end-users, actual living people who are using the SixXS PoP hosted by Leaseweb (https://www.sixxs.net/pops/leaseweb/)

Note that the /39 that SixXS uses out of that /32 is in RIPE whois:

inet6num:       2001:1af8:fe00::/39
netname: SIXXS-NLHAA01
descr: LEASEWEB BV -- IPv6 deployment
descr: SixXS allocation for LEASEWEB BV POP

Hence, querying it should lead you to [email protected] for any abuse there, next to the fact that we noted how to contact us also on: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jasper_Deng/IPv6

Indeed the remainder of that /32 is not registered in whois; that does not mean there are no more specifics like that /39 though.

Can you please exempt the 2001:1af8:fe00::/39 used by users of nlhaa01 as these are actual users, not hosted customers like the rest of that /32?

Greets,

E, I've been away for a while, but this looks like NP vs MP? —SpacemanSpiff 14:13, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. I've been away as well. But yes, that was classic NP vs. MP. I've blocked the account as well as a few others. NP I'm going to leave alone for now unless something comes up. Elockid (Talk) 15:56, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Filter 611

Hi, I was wondering if we could disable edit filter 611, considering it's had only 8 hits all which occurred on 7 April. This one is fast, but nonetheless I feel as the list of filters grows we should keep an eye on the old ones to see if they are still needed. Thanks! — MusikAnimal talk 01:02, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and disabled it for now, hopefully that's ok :) — MusikAnimal talk 22:29, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Totally okay with me. Elockid (Talk) 15:58, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Blocked?

I was just wondering, my account was blocked, but the last thing I did was change my password 6 months ago. It said I was blocked for evading a previous block, but I'm confused as to what I did to be given this block. 67.255.200.238 (talk) 19:08, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Since you are not logging in, we can't tell which account block you are talking about. We will need more information. Alternatively, for privacy you can appeal through UTRS. -- DQ (ʞlɐʇ) 20:24, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Suspicious acct

User:Luigi663339 had admin userboxes on his pages here and on Commons. I've removed them and warned him at Commons, where I actually have a block button. Also has fake alternate acct tags, etc. Maybe a kid playing around, maybe a sock? Anyways, thanks for blocking these. Can you leave DoRD a message if needed? Thx 4 ur time. INeverCry 22:41, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome. Regarding Luigi, I'm willing to believe that it's a kid just playing around. I don't think their should be any problems. I'm sure DoRD is also on top of this. Elockid (Talk) 22:49, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
Looks like it's a sock afterall. I noticed the user mentions Callanecc at the bottom of their page. After looking through Callanecc's blocklog, I found this:

@Elockid: Hi, I saw that you're an admin here on Wikipedia and how are you? You keep up the good work while I'm having a rollback tool or fix the pages in a right way! --Allen talk 01:48, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Vandal you blocked is back

User:Midnite1469 has returned under another sock screen name (User:Midnite14769). BusterD (talk) 03:05, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like the other socks are being handled accordingly. Elockid (Talk) 03:49, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
User:Dirtlawyer1 and I will keep eyes out on the pagespace, and I've started the sock investigation. But this one looks like a dedicated disruptor. BusterD (talk) 03:53, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
The editor came back today evading the block under ip address 2601:0:C280:2B2:79EB:DBF2:7D7:45FF, and caused the same sort of mischief, which Dirtlawyer1 reverted. BusterD (talk) 01:41, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
Blocked 1 week. We could probably go much longer (like 3+ months) but let's see if they get the picture. Elockid (Talk) 01:44, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Webhostblock

Hey there! I see that you've blocked quite a number of ranges as webhosts. Is there any criteria or reason that prompts you to block a webhost IP range (eg only when vandalism occurs, or abuse by a sock), or would you block webhost ranges preventatively? I'm asking because I'm possibly interested in the open proxies project and closing off editing to webhost IPs. Thanks, Stickee (talk) 04:58, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

All the webhosts I've blocked have been used abusively, some much more than others. In general, webhosts tend to be a very large source of disruption for all Wikimedia projects (not just English Wikipedia). Actually, the disruption coming from them has consumed a large number of resources. It's very common for webhosts to hosts open proxies or to offer any type of free VPN service which are essentially open proxies. Elockid (Talk) 15:03, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Quick request

Hi Elockid. Could you do a quick favour and check out this, particularly the first edit and this, and the relation to this and this. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 18:32, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Yup, it's them. I've blocked it and Harshuamrit (talk · contribs). Elockid (Talk) 02:30, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I've the luxury of not being familiar with this one, and don't really care for names anyway. Unblock-auto can really generate some comedy from these clowns sometimes. BTW I didn't mean to randomly interrupt you from your silence, but completely misread your timeline when looking for an active checkuser in the absence of the other one. Still, keep those tools sharp eh? :) -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:48, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi, I'm going to guess Alastair winch (talk · contribs) is yet another sock. Their talk page is a close copy of Indu roy's user page, but beyond that I'm not able to make a definitive connection. Probably WP:NOTHERE anyway, but if you could confirm/deny them as socks that would be of great help. Many thanks — MusikAnimal talk 21:55, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

SPI

As you previously acted on a Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kauffner SPI, are you able to take a look at this latest one? Is actively editing in several short term discussions RMs/AfDs etc. and removing notifications of the SPI. Thanks. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:23, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Queens Library block

I'd like to ask about the block of the IP 63.116.61.253 (talk · contribs); this was blocked for 6 months in February, and you extended it recently. The only recent edits I see look like seemingly innocuous stuff on bilateral relations articles. There may be a banned user somewhere in Queens who is making some trouble with bilateral relations article, but on the face of this it looks like it's inflicting too much collateral damage to block an IP used by a public library with millions of patrons, many of whom don't have home internet access.--Pharos (talk) 20:17, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Pathan Hindu's

I have a question about people living in Aghanistan and Pakistan who are Pathan but Hindu? Is there a possibility you can ad some information about Hindu Pathan people on the Pathan page.

New section

Hi Elockid, this is Supersaiyen312. You gave me another chance in April, but I did not disclose this account at the time because I was desperate to be unblocked. After you unblocked me, I asked you if I could start a fresh or clean start, but you didn't reply. I later found out that I didn't have to ask to make a fresh start. Anyway, I have some questions that I want to ask. Please check your e-mail later. In the meantime, you can block me for not disclosing this account. I'm about to email ArbCom in a second also. I want to explain further over e-mail. Kirothereaper (talk) 23:42, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

I'm willing to take the Standard offer again, because I have no excuse this time. Thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt. I want to apologize, but I know sorry is not good enough. Kirothereaper (talk) 21:57, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
