Have a read of the external links guideline - links should be directly relevant to the subject of the article. I interpret this guideline rather strictly - so for example on Crime Stoppers Australia, it's alright to have a link to the Crime Stoppers Australia website but it's not alright to have a link to the Crime Stoppers International website - the Wikipedia article for Crime Stoppers International is linked from the see also section. "It's useful" isn't a good argument at all - I have removed plenty of potentially useful links from articles because they don't satisfy the external links guidelines. If you are involved with mystreet.com in some way, read the conflict of interest guideline to find out what to do. Also you can sign your name like I have with four tildes like this: "~~~~". Ok, I've read the section and agree with you, however where does the following external link fit as it covers australia:

• MyStreet Neighborhood Watch Scheme (Operated in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, U.K. and U.S.A.)

I can't immediately think of an article it would belong to besides Neighborhood Watch but I'll have to look at the website in more detail to find that out. Graham87 13:22, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm this is an interesting site - but I don't think it should be linked in Wikipedia because it requires registration to use any of its features. External links in Wikipedia are supposed to link to content, not community websites. It does seem like a revolutionary website though. Graham87 13:34, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I don't think links to mystreet.com are appropriate in Wikipedia for articles on individual towns - mystreet.com is not directly relevant to anything except maybe Neighbourhood Watch. It seems that it requires registration to view any of the content, and links in Wikipedia should link to content-rich websites. That is why I have been reverting those links. It is good to add things to see also sections though and I've tried to improve your additions to those sections - for guidance on how they work and general layout tips see Wikipedia:Guide to layout. Also, one of your additions was reverted fairly quickly. As for your additions last night, the external link at Neighbourhood Watch (UK) is OK (though to be honest the only link that really should be in that section is the official website of Neighbourhood Watch) and I'd probably remove the link you added to robbery. An external links section in Wikipedia is like a further reading section - perhaps a link in there was cited as a reference, but a link in that section should provide more freely available information about the subject of the article than can ever be in the article. You can bring up the specific case of mystreet.com at wikipedia talk:external links for further opinions if you want - for the record I am not an administrator, but the admins have a different position in Wikipedia than many other online communities.
