Interested in editing celebrity and political articles

edit

Interesting combination.

No need to reply on my talk page; your user/talk page is on my WP:Watchlist. Flyer22 (talk) 13:58, 26 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

It's all thanks to falling down the "Wikipedia rabbit hole," I suppose. Haha Endymion105 (talk)
The "Interesting combination" part is because your focus on political articles reminds me of a problematic editor I recently had to deal with a lot. And, to me, for that editor to throw celebrity articles into the mix could simply be a cover. The fact that you are clearly experienced at editing Wikipedia (despite the newness of your Wikipedia account) and slightly remind of that editor, including by having edited the Rick Grimes article soon after I did (when that editor is known to stalk me and edit The Walking Dead articles), is what gave me pause about you. So all of that is the reason that I have your user page/talk page on my WP:Watchlist.
And, yes, I know that you state on your user page that you are "also active on Wikia under the same name, where [you] mostly serve as a minor contributor to Wookieepedia." And I know that your user page lists other things that make you very different from the aforementioned editor. But it's very rare that an editor will have edited other wikis without ever having edited Wikipedia. So I think you edited Wikipedia before joining as Endymion105. And given that I've seen so many tactics of WP:Sockpuppets, and that I've seen people use WP:Clean start inappropriately, it's difficult for me to trust a new Wikipedia account that edits Wikipedia significantly differently than a typical WP:Newbie would. I have edited Wikipedia before, actually, but I don't think I'm the same person you're talking about. I used to edit under a different username, but for the most part, I disappeared for a while because of college. When I started editing Wikipedia again, I noticed my talk page had several comments over issues that I had caused in the past because I didn't contribute to conversations. I don't know if you commented on there or not, but I do remember receiving a few complaints in the past because I was very hard-headed a few years ago while I was still in high school. I opted to create a new account in order to distance myself from my previous mistakes, as I sincerely don't want to cause any issues/problems with anyone. I realize now that I need to take part in the discussions if I'm going to continue editing, which is the reason I leave a list of my changes and the reasons for them on an article's edit summary.
The Rick Grimes thing is kind of weird, but I promise it's purely coincidental. I don't usually look at article histories and I really only look at my own contribution page just to see if something has been edited since I made changes. I just fell into another rabbit hole again and noticed that Rick's page had "The Walking Dead (franchise) character" in the infobox instead of "The Walking Dead character," so I just fixed it. I did immediately go back after clicking the link to "King County," though, as I noted in the summary. As for whomever you are having issues with, I can assure you I am not looking to cause any trouble. As for my edits on political pages, I'm not really interested in editing any of them; the only reason I edited the ones I did was simply because I went to Chandler Massey's article, which took me to his dad's and those of the other Georgia Secretaries of State. I initially only edited the secretaries' articles after I noticed a mistake on one of them, but it just kind of snowballed from there (haha). I am mostly looking at editing articles related to celebrities, movies and TV, so you won't really see me on anything else unless I just end up there and notice something that I think should be fixed. Anyway, if you have any more concerns or if you want/need to ask me any questions or leave any comments/feedback, just leave me a message! And thanks for letting me know! :) Endymion105 (talk)
Although, going by your explanation, it sounds like you've used WP:Clean start inappropriately (do give that policy a thorough read), that you've taken the time to explain can be considered something admirable; I did mention above that your editing presentation is significantly different from that other editor's style (see what the Archive 19 listing on my talk page states for which editor I mean). I also considered that you simply followed me to the Rick Grimes article after editing the Sophia Bush article again. Still, I cannot state that I'm certain that you are editing Wikipedia without any past sanctions (such as a WP:Block, etc.). Anyway, as long as you edit well with this new account of yours, I'm not interested in trying to stop you from editing Wikipedia. If you make good (meaning actually do good) on your second chance (or whatever chance this is for you), that's a net positive for this site. Flyer22 (talk) 08:06, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

MOS

edit

Hey there, welcome (back) to Wikipedia, I think we will be crossing paths a lot considering we seem to have similar interests: Dynasty and Star Wars, LOL. Geez, we're weird ;) Anyway, I wanted to point you to two areas of the MOS because I've recently undone some of your edits that may be based on outdated knowledge of Wikipedia style. The first is MOS:LQ, which says to keep punctuation outside of quotation marks unless it is part of the quote itself. The second is MOS:DATERANGE, because date span format changed back last year, so that the end years of date ranges are now given in full as they were several years ago. Thanks and see you around! — TAnthonyTalk 03:58, 15 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey TAnthony, I'm so sorry it took me so long to respond to your original message! I saw it back in July but forgot to reply before going on a two-month long hiatus again. LOL. I've been busy IRL with moving and with school and the like, so while I've been on the Wiki, I've not actually logged into my account to make any contributions as of late (though I did take the time to update my user page after taking a look at yours - sorry, but I used yours as inspiration for my own). Thanks for the warm welcome back to Wikipedia and for letting me know about the updated MOS. I haven't had the chance to look through it yet, but I'll be sure to read over the links you provided in order to familiarize myself with them to avoid any future mishaps. :) Looking over your interests listed on your user page, we'll definitely be running into each other again thanks to our strange penchant for soap operas and fantasy/science fiction series. LOL. Thanks again for your message. I'll be seeing you! — Endymion105 (talk) 22:28, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Survey Invite

edit

I'm working on a study of political motivations and how they affect editing. I'd like to ask you to take a survey. The survey should take 5 minutes. Your survey responses will be kept private. Our project is documented at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Wikipedia_%2B_Politics.

Survey Link: http://uchicago.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH?Q_DL=eYcEJhpD4guKGZT_80J3UDCpLnKyWTH_MLRP_3DT3d8Yy4PcFFsh&Q_CHL=gl

I am asking you to participate in this study because you are a frequent editor of pages on Wikipedia that are of political interest. We would like to learn about your experiences in dealing with editors of different political orientations.

Sincere thanks for your help! Porteclefs (talk) 20:42, 4 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
