Thanks for trying to improve Wikipedia. We make most decisions according to Wikipedia:Consensus. I want to encourage you to keep editing. I also want to state the obvious: while everyone has to "go along with" the group's decisions, you don't have to change your own opinion to match the group's. Wikipedia articles about surgery are read by everyone from high school students to surgeons to patients' friends and families, and we need people to remind us of all the different parts of the audience.
