Nuclear fuel cycle

Hi, I saw that you posted a comment that the pictures were not NPOV. Please could you say what you do not like about the pictures, and also say what pictures you think should be added to the page. Please reply on my talk page to make sure that I see any reply.Cadmium 11:39, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Good point, I will change the page to make the following different cycles clear

1. Once through cycle 2. Closed cycle using Pu and U recycle 3. Closed cycle using Pu, U and minor actinide recycle

BNFL are doing option 2, I am unsure if they are reusing U but they are making the Pu into MOX for reuse.

You might be interested to know that in the US many utilitys are now using MOX (Pu supplied by the former Soviets), so MOX use has started (Which closes the cycle). Also research is being done on the use of minor actinides in fuel, it has reached the process development stage where normal reactors (Fast) are being loaded with test fuel. So the fuel cycle has been closed, and on the experimental stage it is closing for the transplutonium metals.Cadmium 17:49, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
