- I can find no publicly available evidence, i.e. not behind a paywall, for Ibbett's DoB, though I have access to his birth certificate. I can find no reliable evidence of Ibbett's move to Hull, other than the affiliation shown on published papers. Should I therefore remove the DoB and any reference to the University of Hull? Or just abandon the article? Eqanius (talk) 22:33, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- Evidence of year of birth added. Eqanius (talk) 09:20, 17 June 2023 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest

- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

- This article was mostly written about two years ago by a former colleague of mine from some 15 years ago. His family circumstances have caused him to withdraw from computing activity so I submitted it essentially on his behalf. However, I am too close to the subject according to the rules and therefore wish to withdraw the article. Eqanius (talk) 19:36, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, I understand; thank you.
- Just to clarify, you don't need to abandon this draft, you can still continue to develop it, you just need to disclose your conflict of interest as explained above (see the 3rd bullet point 'disclose'). But either way, it is up to you of course.
- Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 19:47, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

- Dear Liz, thank you for your message. In light of the criticisms of my draft by Greenman, whose exacting requirements are beyond what I am able to satisfy, I decided to abandon my attempt to create the page, despite the encouragement from DoubleGrazing. Maybe one day someone else might want to create an entry for Roland Ibbett but perhaps he is not worthy of an entry on Wikipedia. C'est la vie. Eqanius (talk) 19:17, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
